Hurry Up and Wait

Gun rights and gun control advocates alike will have to wait a little longer to find out if the U.S. Supreme Court will hear a challenge to a Highland Park firearms ban. The high court is now expected to decide at the earliest on Monday if it will take the case, which involves a gun owner who sued the North Shore community over its ban on semi-automatic "assault weapons" that carry more than 10 rounds. [More]
My prediction from a couple days ago in response to being asked:
[M]y *opinion* is they will not hear it and will not say why ... If they do hear it, I don't see how an honest reading of 2A and subsequent decisions could rule against the right to own them, meaning if they go the other way, it's game on against those of us who will not comply.
I'll have more to say after the decision -- or lack thereof  -- but nothing I haven't been saying for years.

Even More of Fraud than Before

State officials announced Wednesday that winners who are due to receive more than $600 won't get their money until the state's ongoing budget impasse is resolved. [More]
I'd guess everything from interstate commerce to RICO could be thrown at the crooks who took people's money anyway, if someone wanted to make a federal case out of this.

If.

We're the Only Ones Headed Off Enough

Those 12, plus four alternates, replace the previous grand jury that was headed by a Waco police detective ... Head being named foreman of the grand jury provided ample fodder for conspiracy buffs and biker groups, who took to social media to decry the move. [More]
Why would those questioning such an in-your-face conflict of interest be limited to those? Besides, how can people not be suspicious when we still don't have ballistics results, even though ATF promised to fast-track them, and staffers for Senate Judiciary Chair Chuck Grassley demonstrably lied when they promised an email explaining his position on asking ATF for a completion estimate would be forthcoming.

False Accusations

Oath Keepers did NOT organize the Global Rally for Humanity ... We find it very disheartening that someone who is writing for the mainstream media would not take the time to contact our organization directly and confirm what is, up to that point, hearsay. A basic tenet of journalism is to check your facts. This does not seem to be done by these so called “journalists.” It seems they are more interested in demonizing us than reporting on truth. [More]

The Only Thing We Have to Fear...

...is government itself. [More]

A-yup.

Say, gang, I've got a swell idea! Let's all disarm and give them a monopoly of violence!

Funny, fear of "gun control" made the Top 20 list.  You know what didn't?

Fear of armed citizens.  That's worth spreading around.

So much for all those claims by the Tyranny Lobby that distorted high percentages of Americans and even NRA members get all wet at the prospect of "commonsense" disarmament edicts.  Of course, they're also the ones who told us 95% of all Mexican crime guns come from U.S. stores due to our "lax gun laws," and we saw how far they were willing to go to make that case.

Taking Down a Campus Killer

Ray and an armed (with his shotgun) civilian school administrator, both went up to the top of the tower together to stop Whitman. When they stepped out of the elevator at the top, Ray went around the tower in one direction and the armed civilian went the other way. It was pure chance that Ray encountered Whitman first, and hence, pure chance that Whitman was not shot down by an armed civilian school staff member, instead of an LEO. That’s how people reacted back in those days. [More]
There are a lot of great comments under yesterday's AmmoLand piece, but this one by "oldshooter" is outstanding, not to mention educational -- especially as he recalls the prevalence of guns in college dorm and frat house life back before subversives and useful idiots took over.

"Controversial" to Whom?

In the wake of the deadly massacre at an Oregon community college, the controversial Oath Keepers militia group revealed a new plan last week to prevent school shootings, announcing its intention to form college and high school chapters to train students to “fight back.” [More]
First of all, it's not a "militia group."

Second, they're only doing what's been proven to work under fire.

And lastly, what's with ending the article giving SPLC the last word?  How the HELL can a group centered around the oath its members take to the Constitution be  characterized by anyone but an Opposite Day "progressive" liar as "anti-government," and why did the "reporter" not see fit to question that?

Making Military Less Formidable to Enemy Endangers Lives

So when we’re told “A few male Soldiers got an unexpected addition to their Army Combat Uniforms last week – not to mention an interesting change to their silhouettes,” can we follow up by asking what would have happened to one who refused?
