Folding Under Reality

Jacqueline here would be as effective at stopping the violent as she is in arguing they be given an advantage under armed force of "law." What a fool anyone who buys into her utter crap is. [More]

The security guard went through a background check. The Columbine deputy survived because he returned fire, causing the monster to retreat in search of more reliable defenseless prey. A scripted, option-limiting scenario from anti-gun ABC is hardly definitive, especially for those of us who have had to resort to DGUs. The reason more mass shooters haven't been stopped by citizens (and don't forget Jeanne Assam and Joel Myrick) is because the ones she cited were in "gun free zones" (except for the Giffords shooting, which was over before the armed citizen could respond -- it could easily have gone down differently). Citing rates, where a few incidents in lower population areas can be percentage-wise higher than lots of incidents in more populated areas, is a common deception tactic,  as the ludicrous implication that Chi-Town is safer than Alaska demonstrates. And yes, you can too carry at NRA conventions (except in venues like the upcoming Toby Keith concert), so she's either lazy or she's lying.

Does that about cover it?

What's the Big Deal?

This is my response to a Facebook comment poster about yesterday's AmmoLand article. The person pretty much dismissed the proposed SSA rule as something to worry about:

If I may:  What you describe is not the due process we extend to -- and properly require for -- criminal suspects. Plus it takes inputs from varied sources with different thresholds, and there is literally nothing to stop them from expanding those -- except for us Liberty advocates. And if you're going to stop me from buying a gun via NICS, doesn't it just make "commonsense gun safety" to use that as "justification" to confiscate what I already possess? Like they're doing in California?

Nor do you address the very real and documented "professional" biases I cited, the unAmerican default presumption of guilt instead of innocence, or placing the burden of proof on someone who may not have the wherewithal and resources to petition for redress. They've done the same thing to veterans.  This is classic "divide and conquer" by isolating groups. Now seems as good a time as any to suggest Googling "Martin Niemöller."

This may seem a minor objective to you, but it would not if you or someone you loved were the one being denied full due process. As for having bigger fish to fry, we're all capable of walking and chewing gum at the same time.  Registering your objection in Regulations.gov comments and encouraging others to do so will take about the same amount of time it took to compose and post your comment.

And then of course, there's "shall not be infringed." And anyone who can't be trusted with a gun can't be trusted without a custodian.

We do not give these usurpers one inch toward their end goal, at least I won't. We make them fight for everything and thwart them at every opportunity.  They get no "gimmes." Because every beachhead you cede to them is one less pocket of resistance they need to worry about, and allows them a foothold from which to launch their next incursion, maybe into something you do care about enough to fight.

I urge everyone here to do two things right now, exactly what I asked for in the article -- share the information with your gun owner friends and encourage them to join you in leaving a comment at: https://www.regulations.gov/#!docketDetail;D=SSA-2016-0011

At this writing, there are only a few dozen comments. Everyone here should find that unacceptable.

The Thrill is Gone?

No more "furrowing up [your] leg" for Obama?

You'd buy that for a dollar?

Sounds like you've been listening to the voice of God again. Was he on an open mike like you?

OK, indignant shrews: You know what to do.

I guess we shouldn't be surprised that collectivist groupthink has made it a thoughtcrime for a man to appreciate a good-looking woman. The rich irony here is that Matthews has been a "progressive" voice, and now we have an entertaining opportunity to watch the left try to eat one of its own -- or be further exposed for the hypocrites they are.

Social Security Opens Comments for Gun Disability Records Expansion

There are major concerns we should have with a sweeping bureaucratic firearms disability, which no doubt the gun-grabbers will paint as “Gun nuts want to give guns to crazy people.”[More]
It’s a madhouse. A maaadhouse! Without demonstrating Constitutional authority or comprehensive due process protections, bureaucrats at the Social Security Administration want to know what we think about new rules for disarming Americans.

A Monumental Undertaking

No pun intended:

From the monument company:
I have attached a copy of what the monument will look like. This monument is 30 inches wide by 24 inches tall and 6 inches thick (if you were looking down on the monument) The price for this size stone is $1200.00. That price includes the monument, all engraving, and the price for us to set the monument.
If you placed the order today, we would have it set sometime between 6 and 8 weeks.
It's nice to see Kurt Hofmann's quote will also be memorialized on the reverse side.

You know what comes next: Where are they supposed to come up with $1200  -- today? Or in the foreseeable future?

You know the drill, and I'm giving a special shout-out to those who acknowledge you have received value from Mike's life work, but have not yet made an effort to return some of that value in a tangible way.  And to those of you who already have made gratitude offerings, nothing's stopping a further show of appreciation.

You can send checks, money orders or cash to:

And what if this takes in more than $1200? What if it does?

I've remarked on the same thing at gatherings -- the number of gray heads in the crowd and how young adults are so scarce.

The leadership is going to have to come from someone in their age range who knows how to craft the type of message in the type of medium they'll be receptive to in order to get them to first dip their toe in the pool. Wayne waving a flag won't cut it. We grups can do our best to promote newcomers, but we don't really reach the audience that needs to be approached.

One core message I think has been grossly underutilized: Appeal to their conditioning by stressing the truly progressive egalitarian power-sharing that can only exist with an armed populace.

On the plus side, all who need to be truly committed would be, say, three percent...
