The Long Beach Police Department is missing more than a fourth of its shotguns and an unknown number of revolvers, officials said Thursday.See, that's why we need to register your and my guns--to keep stuff like this from happening.
If ever manufacturers deserved to get sued for irresponsible distribution...
One fourth??? Are you kidding me? Maybe I'm overreacting since I work in third-party warehousing, but if we were to lose 1/4 of our customer's inventory, we'd be slapped with a lawsuit and laughed right out of the industry.
ReplyDeleteThe spokeperson's excuse of not having the money to invest in technology to track the weapons is weak. The first step is implementing well-defined processes and procedures that are *enforced*, even if you have to resort to paper and pencil for your technology. At least the LAPD understands that.
Jason, I worked for years producing, among other policies, inventory and property control procedures, including government/customer property.
ReplyDeleteI guarantee you, I could, IN ONE DAY, create the procedure and controls to handle this situation.
This is laziness, incompetence, criminal negligence and dishonesty. There is no excuse. People should not only be fired for this, they should be jailed.
Its a calm refreshment to see examples of our government's streamlne efficiency and competence.
ReplyDeleteThis is disturbing and FUNNY at the same time! A very difficult combination to pull off. Almost every instance of this combination, that I've witnessed, involves government! What does that tell us?
ReplyDeleteA VERY relevant point to consider is - WE PAID for those guns! Apparently, WE'RE, (THE PEOPLE), ARE THE ONLY ONES ACCOUNTABLE ENOUGH! For 'THEY', surely, are NOT!
