    Those were also the days when there was a thing encouraged called "discipline." You saw it in classes up until the early '80s (I remember getting publicly paddled in 6th grade for not doing my homework--and I think I was among the last of the generation to undergo that in a public school).

    Now, it's a crime to do anything worthwhile. So, if you can't treat them like humans, treat them like cattle.

  5. And if the kids/parents can opt out, where's the problem? Of course these parents also do not permit their kids to go into the kitchen (knives, etc - I expect that they eat with rubber spoons), aren't allowed near any lawn or garden tool, and will never be allowed to learn to drive - but then, they're not allowed to ride in a car now. Which means they must be home schooled, so where's the problem. /Rant off. Sorry...
