TWO masked gunmen robbed a security van at a petrol station yesterday and escaped with tens of thousands of pounds.
The robbers threatened the two-man van crew with a semiautomatic gun as they filled up a cash machine at the garage.
That's some security. Why is it I assume the guards were unarmed?
Oh, that's right--it's the UK. Stupid question, forget I asked it...
Reminds of the time in the 80s' when I was told to lead my platoon in a sweep of the woods, and search for members of Beider Meinhof, a well armed gang of commie thugs who had previously machine-gunned the Attourney General of West Germany. We were sent out with-Ta-Da! Unloaded M-16s'. I remember askin' the lootenant, "Sir, if we find-em, what are we supposed to use, harsh language?"
ReplyDeleteSince it was the UK, they were probably robbed by people with toy guns, and couldn't tell the difference.
ReplyDeleteSean, if that immediately after the bombing outside Rhine-Mein AB my son swept those woods with you.
ReplyDeleteAlthough, I believe they were looking for Arab terrorists.
The men who carried out the robbery were described as "expert". This term is used commonly by the Police in Britain and Ireland to somehow explain away the fact that armed thugs can do practically anything they want to the the general populance without fear of any resistance.
ReplyDelete"'There is no doubt this was extremely carefully planned and the work of an expert criminal gang.'"
ReplyDeleteNow that's funny. Two bottom feeders with guns rob a crew that's loading cash into an ATM, and then drive off. Wow. What criminal masterminds!
Straightarrow: You are correct sir! Although my division was located in the Stuttgart area. Beider Meinhof was a delightful multicultural(gag)blend of Palestinians,Arabs,Russians,Germans, and Syrians. They were hunted down almost to a man(and woman),jailed, shot, or lost interest.
ReplyDeleteThat was my son's last deployment with the anti-terrorists unit, it was the first time that command noticed he wore glasses, although he went through all the training with them on. :)
ReplyDeleteHe ended up in security, is a mustang major now, just ok'd for his own command. Went to OCS at the last possible age in grade moment.
I can't imagine that the story of the glasses didn't get around, did you perhaps know him?
