LIE!

Chief Richard Pennington wrapped up a surprise press conference around 5:20 p.m. Monday telling us his entire narcotics unit is on administrative leave – that means seven officers and one sergeant are on leave after the police shootout that left Kathryn Johnston dead.

Now, Chief Pennington confirmed there are questions as to whether there was ever a drug buy at Kathryn Johnston’s home – the informant told the Internal Affairs Unit he was told to lie.

  1. It looks like the narcotics officers ran out of friends in the internal affairs department...

    I am surprised.

    Not at the "evidence" they created to produce a warrant and cover-up a murder, but that they didn't have enough friends in the internal affairs division.

    It usually seems the really bad crap about those with badges only begins to be uncovered after the FBI show up.

    Investigating their own through internal affairs, or allowing a neighboring jurisdication or state police to investigate generally amounts to a head-nod. "You pat my back, I'll pat your back."

    The FBI doesn't have the same incentives to "go easy on their partners in blue".

  2. It is finally clear to me that no amount of abuses by the current militarized police will correct the course we're on.

    Those in power have come to like this additional power and authority, to rely on it really.

    The budgets for these SWAT/ HRT/ TAC TEAMS, what ever euphemism you choose to give them, are HUGE! There are federal and state dollars up for grabs here. Nobody wants the gravy train to stop.

    This power to disregard the 4th 2nd and 1st amendments to the Constitution has been intoxicating to those that wield it.

    They WILL NOT give it up willingly...

  4. SA - Thoughts along the same lines have crossed my mind;

    Remember how Charlton Heston had said;

    "You can take it from my cold dead hands"?

    Think what Mr. Heston really meant to say was....

    'WE'LL take YOURS from YOUR cold dead hands'....
