'We Looked at Maps..."

A recent letter to the editor about the noise from the Fredericksburg Rod & Gun Club was right on the mark ["Noise from gun club is excessive," Oct. 1].

Like many families in Ruffin's Pond, ours has been enduring this noise ever since we moved in two years ago.

Having lived in another neighborhood with noise problems, we did some checking around and found nothing of concern. There was nothing to warn us about the gun club, though.

We drove the area, looked at maps, every normal thing a person could do, and found no indication of a shooting range. It's as if they want to remain hidden.

Yeah, absolutely no indication.

That's pretty good hiding. It took me all of 2 minutes from California (it would have taken less time, but MapQuest doesn't recognize the apostrophe in "Ruffins".)

Dude, your beef is with your realtor and the seller for nondisclosure, if that's in fact the case. And with yourself, for being an ignorant hoplophobic whiner.

Hint to urban Brie-eaters: Many rural folk like to shoot guns. Another hint: They've been doing it in this country for hundreds of years. It's in all the history books, or at least, it used to be.

Anybody besides me sick of migrants refusing to acclimate and expecting the locals to change to accommodate them--on both the regional and national level?

If I may paraphrase: I love the sound of gunfire in the morning. Sounds like Liberty.

  2. And the sheep just keep on bleating.

Will we ever hear 'the silence of the lambs'?

(After gov. takes full power, I'm sure we will. But there will be a lot of screaming first).

  4. we city folk send them out to the country in hopes you guys can deal with them for us.

Hell, for that matter, where were they from originally? Were they OK with all the shootings, err, shooting in the city?

It's like a rattle snake folks, the noise is to warn your idiot kids to stay away. Unless they like jr's idea they can move, or STFU.

  5. But they've been there for two whole years!!! Don't they have a legitimate right to be safe from noise harassment?! Someone should do something about this. I mean, isn't peace and quiet in the Bill of Rights?

  6. These whining idiots drive me crazy here in the far NW suburbs of Chicago. They move out to the country, having no idea what country life is like, then want to impose their city ways on us. We used to have a wonderful outdoor range less than 10 miles from my home. 100, 200, 300 yard rifle, 10, 25, 50, 100 yard pistol ranges, a seperate 22 range and trap and skeet shooting also. The bed wetting idiots and their soccer mommy wives moved out here in droves and FORCED the range to close. Now I have to drive at least 1.5 hours to get to the closest range where rilfes are allowed. It SUCKS!!!! Stay in your lofts in the city you sheep.
