We're the Only Ones Going to the Dogs Enough

TWO policemen have not been prosecuted for shooting a dog after tying it to a tree...But police last night said the officers had been subjected only to "internal disciplinary action". The first officer fired at the family pet from close range but missed.

A shot from the second officer passed through the dog's neck - depriving it of the ability to bark - and cut the rope...

The incident happened after police in an unnamed "remote locality" went to a house to arrest a man's son on an outstanding warrant.

A struggle started and the family dog bit one of the officers. The police decided the dog was a "vicious animal" and should be put down.
It certainly sounds like these two thugs would recognize a vicious animal that should be put down when they see one. This brings me to an interesting question: would lethal force be morally justified to defend the life of a pet?

I say "yes." Without question.

  2. There are bastards in every country, no doubt.

It sounds to me like the dog was doing what dogs are supposed to do - protect their owner.

The police, on the other hand, were obviously clueless.

And as usual, "the code" prevented any prosecution.

    And I wholeheartedly concur.

The ol' lady and I have five dogs which we have taken in off the street. Love them like children. Anyone that shoots any of them, will themselves face immediate and sure retribution.

  4. The hypocrisy is unbelievable...you kill a police dog you get charged with the death of an officer. They chain and kill YOUR dog they get a "well done!" and probably a bonus.

Where's the animal nuts with their cruelty to animals mantra?

Just goes to show what they have planned for us...chains and death.

  5. There is no question. if they are willing to shoot your dog, they are willing to shoot YOU.
The only reason to shoot that dog was to terrorize that family.

Another sign of the times, and another example of police refusing to police their own.

And that, Folksies brings us one day closer to the day we come to the conclusion the police have declaired war on ALL the rest of us.

  6. Given the choice, I'll take death--and as many of them with me as I can!
