I missed this report from a few days back. The following immediately caught my attention:
Wendy Johnson, assistant U. S. attorney, said the investigation of the Militia of Washington County continues. No, Wendy, last time I checked, the Constitution was "the supreme law of the land," and my copy still says "shall not be infringed."
“[Fincher and his supporters ] are good people, and they believe very strongly,” Johnson said. “Those beliefs are just contrary to the laws of the land.”
We know that's not the interpretation you and other members of the Bush administration argue in court and elsewhere, but there it is.
But continue persecuting "good people," Wendy. It's not like this country doesn't have real and evil domestic enemies, with whom you have apparently aligned.
Good Lord, Wendy, is this really what you wanted to do with your life?

I posted this on Kim's site but I thought it applied to "Wendy's" disconnect between persecuting American citizens and enforcing the law. Apparently she can do both.
ReplyDeleteOfficer “friendly” is not my friend. He may be a nice guy and a supporter of the Bill of Rights, kind to animals and all that, but he is NOT your friend.
Officers generally follow orders, if those orders are to break in your door and “take you down” they will do that. This whole not following unlawful orders thing is largely a pipe dream. Enough LEOs will follow orders to make your life unpleasant if they see fit. The only security most people can enjoy is that they have not drawn any negative attention from LE.
With the number of obscure laws on the books chances are anyone could be a “lawbreaker” if LE had what it considered a compelling interest. The point is that LEOs are NOT your friends. They are just people, some/ most good some/ few bad, all with power. You have no way of telling the good from the bad.
You treat them as you would a friend at your peril.
YMMV
What motivates these government servants in taking part in the betrayal of their fellow citizens? I've always had a difficult time in trying to understand it.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure that not all of the people in government are traitors. Because I have encountered decent people whom are actually trying to serve. And help contrubute to the well being of society. I've seen many of these same people become disillusioned and disgusted as well.
The ones that really get me, are the ones whom mean to govern and demand obedience to their 'authority'. But, that is how it is with 'power'. Which appears to be growing more absolute with each passing day.....
