An Obvious Solution

Two weeks ago, residents received a [letter? notice?] from their homeowners' association indicating that guns are not allowed on the property.

So defy this stupid rule, fire the board and elect new officers. These people are supposed to work for you.

Oh, wait...

  1. I'd be telling that bunch to KMA; what are they going to do, kick in your door and try to evict you because you're armed and they aren't? Good luck with that strategy.

  2. Homeowners associations are fucking psychotic in Florida, and you're hard pressed to find any place to live that doesn't have one. I find it to be a bunch of bullshit, actually. Here are some people who are going to tell me what I can and cannot do on property that I am PAYING FOR, without any legal backing behind them? Seriously, tell them to shove it, they can't do a damned thing to you if you own or are mortgaging that property.

But, what about tar & feathers, or rope & tree? Why can't we have a little fun?

  4. The whole homeowner's association concept is unheard of here in the UK- and I don't get it at all. Especially in America- what on earth possessed US citizens to come up with such an idea in the first place?

  5. jay.mac, I think the whole (stoopid) notion has to do with "protecting property values" (if you don't clamp down, next thing you know Jed next door will have a Hudson Hornet up on blocks in the front yard or something).

And it's why I won't purchase a home someplace where the neighbors think they can decide what color I paint my place or whether I can have a basketball hoop on the garage for my sons, let alone whether I can own guns.
