Since this guy didn't have an FOID, he couldn't buy a handgun in Illinois. He couldn't buy a handgun out of state. So unless they found a long gun, it would be interesting to know which cop gave him the gun and from whom they took it.
I doubt he had a long gun. Call me cynical, but he is the kind of sonofabitch that jailed others for wanting the option of self defense, while illegally exercising it for himself.
No proof of the above allegation, but I would bet that way.
If the gun charges go away, you know a cop gave it to him.
