We Are Getting Tired of Prying Your Guns out of Your Cold Dead HandWhat's this "we", Elayne Boosler? Are you part of the raid teams now, or do you just expect "the help" to do your dirty work?
And some of the comments are even more pathetic. Is there anything the useful idiots at The Huffington Post don't know?
Oh, look: She's not done yet...
I guess with work being scarce and all, this is as cheap a way as any to keep your name in front of your adoring public.

Somebody forgot to take her Prozac...
ReplyDeleteShe is definitely on the other side of the gun argument ;)
ReplyDeleteWe have a problem with the NRA because we don't think they represent our true interest in the 2nd Amdt (as proven by their actions time after time etc).
She has a problem with the NRA for other reasons (hates death caused by firearms and contributes this to NRA influence in Washington).
She is worried about the women being shot by their boyfriends/husbands etc.(compulsive/crime of passion): that is a legitimate fear and if the stats are correct she HAS to be given some credit. At the least her concerns are legitimate.
Some of the numbers she throws out there are outrageous (120,000 gun deaths in four years? does she count suicides too? it's way above approximated murder rate gun or not for a four year period).
She ridicules the "purse guns", guess she never was raped or about to get raped like many other women here and abroad (what are the stats on that? how many rapes are reported? Isn’t it after all women’s health issue?).
There are as many women opposing partial birth abortion as requesting them, she's taking one side and calls the Prez nuts for it (he might as well be, but it's not the point).
She thinks that the Police will not be safe when “We The People” will have the same guns as they do. But the average citizens don't shoot at the Police do they? And should we shoot at cops in self defense when they go rouge? Those two guys that popped that old lady pleaded guilty ... Does it happen often? Ask the drug dealers...
About the Abrams Tanks trying to run me over: she should look back at Iraq very closely again. Those tanks, choppers, satellites, night-vision, and other armaments don't seem to be able to put down the insurgency there, do they? I wonder why? Yeap, must be IRAN !!! Let’s go get them too in the name of “peace and security” ;)
Guns and Children: didn't we see that gas ranges are 4 times more likely to cause injury to children then guns? Deadly gun accidents for kids are terrible no matter what side of the argument we’re on.
The question is: does recklessness around guns/criminals give us enough reason or necessity to sacrifice our rights for "the greater good"? That is exactly what she is asking for: disarm in the name of the "greater good". I did visit Auschwitz, I was there, I walked the grounds, I touched the walls and the ovens...
For one, it's not Cuba or China where greater good is the new "morality". The American way is "cause no harm" or face the consequence (at least I see it that way). Sort of like the Hippocratic Oath.
And that brings me to our final positions: self defense and genocide prevention. I think all serious pro-common sense arguments can be reduced to those two FINAL STANDS. She should discuss this with us, that is what we should attempt to help her (and others) understand and through that learn some more by ourselves: maybe there are some angles we didn’t think about?
She sure has some observational skills, and so do we.
