BATFU Making Presence Known on Blogs

One supporter noted that he thought that they would be a little more discreet about spending so much time on websites. The point is not to be covert, it is to let you know that they are watching. This is an attempt to "mark their territory".

I knew some people who had a cat that kept spraying the furniture. I don't recall if they had it neutered or put down, but they finally did something that left them free of the mess and the stench.

  1. They're coming for you. They're watching...and they are coming. They may have different shirts, different names, different cars, but they are coming.

In fact, they are coming for all of us. You never know who is next.

  2. They are talking about DOJ hits to blogs. ATF is treasury Dept.

  3. Actually, I'm pretty sure BATFE is under DOJ now....

    http://www.atf.treas.gov/about/mission.htm

"The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is a principal law enforcement agency within the United States Department of Justice dedicated to preventing terrorism, reducing violent crime, and protecting our Nation. The men and women of ATF perform the dual responsibilities of enforcing Federal criminal laws and regulating the firearms and explosives industries. We are committed to working directly, and through partnerships, to investigate and reduce crime involving firearms and explosives, acts of arson, and illegal trafficking of alcohol and tobacco products."

  4. I got one from the DoJ about three months back, but my favorite is the one I got from the Sergeant at Arms of the US Senate, after I thanked Honest John McKeating for his service and suggested he go home.

  5. Anytime I mention Wayne Fincher or Red's Trading Post on my blog, I get DOJ "visitors". When I mention Ed Brown I get stalked by IRS blog hits. It is purely an attempt at intimidation since they could hide their visits if they wanted to. They may have automatic programs to visit blogs when they find certain key words.

  6. Anon- BATFU was moved out of Treasury and into DoJ by the Homeland Security Act of 2002. This was purportedly in response to 9/11.

  7. I do enjoy the occasional DOJ visit, though they aren't too frequent, given my lowly status in the blogosphere.
I really hope there's a person reading some of these posts, rather than just a program making their presence known.

  8. Drew, they can't be reading them. No amount of self-justification in the world would allow them to keep doing what they do if they actually read words of people who only want the law obeyed, by them as well.

They don't believe in what they are doing, they don't care either way. It is about advancement and perks and power, damn any principles of liberty.

So no, they are not reading these sites. Truth, honor, law, and the Constitution are toxic to them.

Funny, I always understood the above described the FBI. Who knew?
