This is the only post I'm going to make today, and I'll make it brief.
WarOnGuns regulars know about today's proposed ammo buy as a counterprotest to the Pfleger/Jackson Citizen Disarmament Mobfest and Rabble-Rousin' Jamboree.
The rest of today's posts are yours, via comments. Please tell us:
Your name or screen name
What you bought
How much you bought
Where you bought it (name of store or range), including the city
Did the gun store or range help promote the ammo buy, and if so, what did they do?
If you like, you can tell us how much you spent, but that's optional.
Please restrict your comments to that information.
This post will remain up until 12:00 midnight. I'll determine a "winner" via random drawing from all entries. As previously mentioned, the victor will receive a handsome Red's Trading Post cap, courtesy of WoG reader "Sam."
One last thing--I thought about requiring some sort of proof of purchase, but that's the government's MO to consider people suspect right off the bat. We operate on the honor system here at WarOnGuns. When I announce the winner tomorrow, it will be up to them to contact me at dcodrea at hotmail dot com to claim the prize.
I bought a Red's Trading Post cap in blue. I have way too much ammo to justify buying any more. But I understand this hat will make me more handsome and will increase my accuracy in both rifle and pistol and also help me catch larger fish so I thought it was a good buy and a good way to support The Cause.

My all time bestest buddy (we got in a fight over a girl in the second grade and have been best friends ever since...neither of us ended up with the girl...go figure...) went whole hog and bought a National Match AR-15. I've been trying to talk him into getting into High Powered Rifle competitions for a while and this was the impetus for him to finally take the plunge.
ReplyDeleteHe doesn't "do" blogs so he asked me to let you know.
Little does he know that the rifle is just the beginning.

I am sorry to say I had plans for a large buy today, but Sunday night we received news that my niece was back in the hospital with a recurrence of her cancer. They performed emergency surgery took one look and sewed her back up. The devastation to the family was horrendous.
ReplyDeleteWe have been on the go ever since trying to offer support for her parents, husband and kids. Just got back home this minute and sadly I must admit, I forgot all about it being Ammo Day.
I know you will understand.
I was stood up by the two shops I had contacted earlier last week. I walked in today to purchase a SA Loaded M1A but could not find any mention of the day's festivities. I stood there and explained it last week to the manager and he said that they would definitely "put something up" about it. Today, the clerks didn't know anything about it. I walked out without purchasing anything. I'll get my rifle later anyway. I couldn't bring myself to spend the money there today. Went home and got on the phone and purchased the following:

Would've bought more, but I'm short on funds and need to pay the rent. Wouldn't want my guns to have to sleep outside, you know.
As for the lack of support from local places, I think I may very well have been the only person around here trying to spread the word, so they didn't put much stock in my attempt.
I need to check in with my father and see what ammo he bought. He said he was going to buy a 550 rd. box of .22, and I'm guessing that's all he got.

Despite all that has gone on in Wayne's case lately and the shortage of funds, I found a good reason (excuse) for a box of 12Ga 3" Mag BB Steel Shot and a Full Choke tube for my (new to me) Remington 870 (no, I won't be short-barreling it like Wayne did his) so I can now go waterfowl hunting this year (first time ever - NWA has lots of geese and ducks). $37 and change at Justus Cabinets and Supply in Elkins, AR
ReplyDeleteCaught lots of "real" flak when the wife got home and found out what I did. Not to worry, I've caught flak for a whole lot of other things too. (Her reasoning is that I have lots of other 12 Ga rounds (all 2 3/4" and no steel shot) what did I need this for!)

ReplyDeleteSorry, I got confused because I read about today's "event" at The Firearms Coalition, and they recommended we buy either ammunition or a gun. So I didn't buy any ammunition. ReplyDeleteI stopped by Realco Guns, the DC/MD protest site, for a couple boxes of ammo after work. They said they were impressed by the number of people who expressed support. Last week I bought another barrel for my Enfield and it arrived yesterday (the 28th). I slugged it, and the bore is exactly .303, and it doesn't look as though it was ever installed on a No4.

box-o-308
ReplyDeleteOkay, I ended un NOT getting any .303Br (that's okay, I have penty already).
ReplyDeleteI DID buy 8 boxes of 30-06!
HEY EVERYONE- Winchester has rebates on their XX line of ammo. I bought each box of 30-06 for $11.99 with a $5 rebate! That's $7.00 a box! The rebates are going on now til Dec 31.
308 was just as cheap as were many other sizes.
4 boxes of 50 rounds .45ACP
ReplyDeleteA box of .44-40 (yes!) from our local gun shop, and a 100 rounds of 40 S&W and 100 rounds of 12 ga #8s from our big box store.
ReplyDeleteGot 100 rounds .45ACP at wally world, but did get 2 red,s hats last week and I am recovering fro a poly tech M14 fro carr gun,s Saltillo,Ms 2 weeks ago.
ReplyDeleteOrdered 200 rounds of .308 from Outdoor Marksman, plus picked up some 12 gauge slugs while I was @ Wally World...
ReplyDeleteWhile I am a citizen of the United States, I am unfortunately a resident of Marxistchusetts. So I’m doing the best I can with what I’ve got at the moment while I work toward “getting legal” so I can do more.
ReplyDeletePurchased over the weekend:
1 “2nd Amendment Rights” cloth patch
- don’t know the name of the Gun Shop, southern NH
1 tin of Beeman Silver Arrow Pellets in .25 cal., 200 count
- for a gun I do not own (yet…).
- State Line Gun Shop, Mason, NH
1 tin of Beeman Silver Ace Pellets in .20 cal., 300 count
1 tin of Beeman Crow Magnum in .20 cal., 200 count
1 box of Benjamin/Sheridan Cylindrical pellets in .20 cal., 500 count
- for my Sheridan Blue Streak
- Hunter’s Rendezvous, Pepperell, PDRofMarxistchusetts
Purchased on the day of the event:
1 tin of Benjamin pellets in .20 cal, 500 count
- for my Sheridan Blue Streak
1 tin of Gamo Match Diablo in .177 cal., 250 count
- for whatever .177 I’m in the mood to shoot
1 [redacted airgun item] (approx. $200)
- that I choose not to de facto register by posting the specifics of on Al Gore’s Interwebs
- Blue Northern Trading Company, Ayer, PDRofMarxistchusetts
I also spent a very positive hour or so last night at the range testing the [redacted airgun item]. Odd. On target #3 I fired eight shots and heard all eight hit the backstop in the pellet trap – but there are only seven holes. (At least) Three in the black…
Total spent: More than my budget will allow. But it’s for a good cause.
On the 28th, I only bought four boxes of 7.62x39 at a local Wal-Mart, for around $50.
ReplyDelete--WeedWhacker in Vegas
Purchased a shiny Bushmaster AR15A3 with rail/sights/rail grip w/ handle.
ReplyDeleteThat should scare them.
Bought it at Barneys Firearms and range in Lafayette, LA.
Had to work late so I placed an order at Midway for:
ReplyDelete500 .380 brass
one set new .380 carbide loading dies
500 .357 158gr jackeded soft point bullets for my Marlin lever action
So, no loaded ammo, just components.
I also posted a "Buy a Bullet for Brady" announcement on a web site I frequent to stir the folks up.
Sorry for the late reply, been very busy at work and busy fixing plumbing problems at night.
ReplyDeleteBut I did participate in Just-Say-No-To-The-Brady-Bunch Day. I did want to pick up a bunch of 20 gauge shells, but instead of cases, they had a single box left. So I bought that and some 28 gauge shells for the ol' Italian double.
Thank you for this post! Although, I'm sad that I only missed it by three years! Are you going to have another one anytime with ammunition for sale?
