It's a Mystery to Me

Although he teaches firearms classes to people of all ages, he has specialized in training scouts and is the official firearms instructor for Boy Scout merit-badge training in Flagstaff.

Sometimes classes meet over objections of parents. Wainwright convinces them of the importance of firearms safety.

You have to wonder at the type of parent that would enroll their child in scouting and then object to shooting activities.

  2. One of my proudest moments as a parent was when my son came home from Scout camp having put a dime-sized group in the ten ring. Best target the range master had ever seen from someone who wasn't an adult with prior military training.

  3. You'd be surprised...

When I was Chaplain of my younger son's Scout Troop, we had a Scout do the same at Summer Camp. He was recognized at the Closing Ceremony and his target was proudly held aloft for all to admire before it was varnished to a piece of wood for all posterity to envy.
