Protesters stood in silence for three minutes to honor the victims of the shootings. The three minutes represented the length of time it took gunman Seung-Hui Cho to be approved for his guns.
Here in Illinois, we still have the ridiculous, 3-day waiting period. If they did the protest here, would they have to stand still for 3 days?
It is sort of reminiscent of the zombie movies, except that the zombies have a purpose.
With regards to the poster from Illinois, that's a great point. Technically they'd have to stand for over a month given Virginia's one-gun-a-month policy and Cho's noted compliance with it.
Oh, and what's with this 3 minute thing. Even back when I could buy guns from a kitchen table dealer it took longer than 3 flippin minutes. Well, ok before NICS it could take 5-10, what with filling out the 4473, checking the firearm out, gathering mags, box, etc...
However, I don't hink I have EVER been able to acquire a gun in 3 minutes.

Sounds like a good reason to protest to me: months later I'm still sitting in a university office while my pistol is locked in my car, an unfortunate distance away.
When can we get those 'gun laws' changed to remove this criminal protection zone?
