"Esp. the Nigers!"

About a month or so ago, I noticed on my Technorati page that I was getting hits from a blog called "Guns Make Us Free." It was run by a blogger who called himself "NRAFourever," and it didn't take long to realize this was an anti-gun site designed to make gun owners look stupid and racist. So I did what I usually do with hate-filled people trying to call attention to themselves: I ignored it. No way was I going to link to it and give the guy any traffic.

Well now the page is down--not only that, but all record of the blog has been erased from internet archives, Google cache...and it appears this was not the only site run by this individual, and that they have all been taken down.

Why?

Perhaps it's because the racism went over the top, and the purveyor realized it could backfire and hurt him, badly, as well as damage organizations with which he is affiliated. That's my theory, and a YouTube posting that he couldn't delete shows just how bad he got.

At this point, I need to pause and cede something to political correctness--it's a shame that our culture requires it, but a charge of racism (even when fabricated, as in the case of the malignant dwarfs attacking Ron Paul) can damage or even destroy a person's reputation, so perhaps it would help if I presented the "inclusion policy" I drafted for the old GunTruths site:

We support the right of all peaceable people to keep and bear arms. Your age, race, sex, religion, political party, sexual orientation, or national origin are of no concern to us. Anyone who requires you to disarm is not your friend, and not our friend. Only when all peaceable citizens can freely exercise their inalienable right to self defense, and their right to keep and bear arms, will we attain the ultimate safeguard for our mutual protection, as individuals, as members of a community, and as citizens of the Republic. The right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness extends to all human beings, and all who support the right to keep and bear arms are welcome here, period.
I bring it up because this post is going to contain some highly offensive racist rhetoric. So with that necessary measure in self protection out of the way, let's examine the tactics used by one sick individual before we go about the task of unmasking him.

Desperate to escape, and running from the light like the shamed coward he is, he closed his YouTube account, so his profile has now been deleted. That alone should tell you all you need to know about this wretch. Here's why, in comments I extracted from his posts on this page (bolding added to highlight racial slurs):

Yea, thats rite, but I think you got the stastic rong. I heard Wayyne LaPeare say it was 2 1/2 milloin! THat's a LOT more than you said hear! So I aggree, but lets get our numbers right to show that wer'e smarter than the gun GRABERS LIBS! GO NRA GO! If any of you getto nigers come to steal m y truck, I will PWN you with my rifel!

HA HA LOL LOL YOUR RITE, the libs are STUPIDE! NOT like us, we have smarte names like NRA FOUREVER and WHITECRACKER to show what we think clear and clean! Plus, we barricaede ourself in our house with guns b/c of our fear of the world! Esp. the nigers! Its not b/c were inseckure, its b/c its our RITEs gave by JESIS! Plus we love being intimete with our guns! GO NRA GO!

Not only that, but in DORFAR and in RAWANAD aprocksomately 5.5 MILLION poeple (mostly nigers) were MURDERDE because they had LOST THEIR GUNS (I think the NRA had a chapeter their too for a while). So you should put that i n your statstics next time! The LIB media never did say anything about that! GO NRA GO!

SINK95, your RONG! And probably A LI B too. GUNS have always SHRINKED all dying except for dumb and evil (and nigers). YOU ARE VICTIM OF THE LIB MEIDEA! Get educated--listen to the speaches of Mr. Wayyne LaPErro and Mr. Charelton H., they have all the staticsts and facts you need! JOIN THE PATRIOTICS! NRA ALL THE EWAY!

IF you try, I have up to 50 guns, armed and ready. YOUR the STUPIDE one who thinks that the studeys are rong, 2.5 milion is more than 2555 or whatever you think. I red it on NRA web sight, they are relyable. Stop cusing or Jesis will not love you (in non-homasexeul way). Guns is a tool! Use it for hamer or jug emptyer, or to shoot any minorety crimanal (or Zionest UN member) stealing your parking place. GO NRA GO!

YEA TRainer, were going to INGNORE you! GO NRA GO! Whitecrackerracist is RITE! WHITE POWER is the NRA WAY!
Among other things, he sounds quite illiterate, doesn't he? Actually, we're probably dealing with a highly educated creature, albeit one of questionable stability. And clues to his identity--the ones he's been covering his tracks over--point to a prominent member of an anti-gun group, one with academic credentials who parlays those to get his loopy views posted on "Authorized Journalist" editorial pages.

So who is this creep? That's not my story, so it's not my place to break it here, as other bloggers have done the compilation of evidence, complete with screenshots and emails. I'm not going to steal their thunder, but will link to their posts when they're ready to come forward with them. I've been in correspondence with several colleagues in recent days, and they've amassed some pretty compelling documentation.

Here's what I'm hoping to do with this: attract the attention of some civil rights groups and turn the evidence over to them so they can investigate. The principals involved will be less inclined to stonewall them, and more inclined to clean house and distance themselves from the central villain of this story. I'd also like to see involvement by the establishment media, and perhaps get some "official" reporters looking into this. And I think requesting a board of inquiry from the president of a certain university might also be in order, along with asking a certain alumni association whether this may jeopardize their mission...

Now here's an important caveat: I purposely haven't named names. Even though things appear to point to a certain individual, everyone deserves a presumption of innocence. So if it turns out that someone from the pro-gun camp is setting up circumstantial evidence to smear an ideological opponent, I want to see the perpetrator unmasked as much as anybody.

Two things should be clear to both sides in the gun debate: The racist rhetoric posted above has no place in it, and it is in the interest of both our sides to disassociate ourselves from anyone who would employ such vile tactics. That's why I invite people from "across the aisle" to join me in calling for an independent investigation, free of the "special interests" I admit as my motivation, to confirm the identity of the person behind the racist posts, regardless of whose "side" he is ultimately revealed to be on.

  2. nobody could have fallen for that tripe. It was so stagy as to be worthy of only an immature for his age 6 year old.

I do disagree that he is probably highly educated, I will agree that he has probably been highly schooled, not necessarily the same thing.

I know who he is, and I think we should leave him in place and sub rosa until his new affiliation seeks to align with some of the prominent "minority" leaders in their quest to make their constituents more helpless and defenseless than they now are.

To my mind, that would be the time to expose him and the evil process by which some of these "minority leaders" manipulate their followers in order to maintain their high lifestyles and visibility.

    Just my $.02.

  3. I agree with Phelps. Those are fake mis-spellings. I've known some real illterate rednecks (and they were generally very nice, btw). None of them ever wrote in that fashion.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Actually, what is telling about the 'misspellings' is that they are unambiguous: that is to say that the 'misspelled' word is still recognizable.

Considering that normal misspellings conflate 'ur, your, you're' and 'there, they're, and their' and such, one can reasonably conclude that these aren't 'misspellings' at all.

  5. OK, how the hell do you scrub the google cache?

Please tell me someone was doing screencaps of the site the second it went down like I wanted to but couldn't...DSL has been spotty lately for some reason.

Also, I really wish there was a way to find out the IP addy and see if this is the same "NRAfourever" that's leaving veiled threats towards the Clintons on youtube.

    ReplyDelete
  6. HH--do you have a link to "veiled threats" being made against the Clintons? Because the Secret Service takes that kind of stuff very seriously, and they'll have no trouble getting access to YouTube, Google, etc., as well as Bucknell facilities and personal computers of anyone making threats to get to the bottom of things in short order...

    ReplyDelete
  7. David, I'm not HH, obviously, but he documented the threat here. The YouTube link is here (you have to scroll down for a bit--but there's plenty of our favorite hatemonger's "wisdom" to read along the way).

Ball bat can be used to kill, but also for baseball, or hamer. Just like gun--can be used to kill (niger, or Jewish Zionest Uner, or member of Clinten family, or somebody that takes my parking space), but also to construct house, or open a jug that you cant open (wine or licker), or cut down a tree (need many bulets, but it can be done). Its a TOOL, nothing else, many uses. GO NRA GO!

  8. OK, how the hell do you scrub the google cache?

I've been wondering that myself--especially because I get the feeling that Riley isn't particularly computer savvy (I could be wrong, of course).

By the way, HH--I have screen captures of all of the "Mike S. Adams is Vermin" stuff, but not the "Guns Makes Us Free" stuff.

  9. Ha, ha. You guys are funny. Do you jokers think that the Secret Service will help you with your petty vendetta!?

Seems to me that you're the ones who'll be wishing they were able to erase the Google cache before someone's finished with you.

Why is it so few Americans do irony?

    ReplyDelete
  10. I can't speak for anyone else, Dick, but in my case, no one will need to check the Google cache--I haven't said anything that I'll feel compelled to hide.

As to whether or not the Secret Service will feel inclined to "help [us] with [our] petty vendetta," that is, of course, up to them. However, it's my understanding that they don't have much of a sense of humor, even with regard to extremely elliptical threats to the people whose security is their responsibility.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Hmmm. I'm wondering what DeadEyeDick's IP address is, and whether it, too, originates from somewhere around Bucknell University.

    Just a thought.

  12. @45superman: (is that a homo-erotic superman or just a regular superman - just curious). I rather imagine that your petty little suspicions will find themselves waaaayyy down the Secret Services list of things to do but by all means give it a go. Perhaps they'll dig up some interesting things on some of the gun nuts on here which they'd rather weren't advertised.

@gaviota: you and your friends clearly aren't particularly knowledgeable about internet protocol(IP) addresses I can tell, despite the fact that you attempt to appear knowledgeable by bandying around the acronym. If you did know anything at all about how the technology works then you'd appreciate that, if I knew what your IP address was, I could make this post of mine appear as though it was made from your computer.

Furthermore, it would not behove anyone to make accusations as regards the originator of anything on their blogs from the apparent geographical origination of an IP address. I certainly would not wish to trust my financial future to it at any rate. Without the ability to perform extremely intensive and extensive low-level searching across the global internet backbone, you would not be able to ascertain whether the posts came from where they appeared to or from somewhere on the other side of the planet. Consequently, when your ass was being sued for libel you wouldn't have a leg to stand on and you'd lose every penny you owned to settle out of court.

Just keep digging that hole for yourselves guys, I know someone is counting on it to set himself up for life.

Oh, and what is it with the references to the Niger Delta?

  15. @45superman: (is that a homo-erotic superman or just a regular superman - just curious).

Ahh--allegations of homosexuality--devastatingly witty, and painful to my self-esteem . . . if I were a homophobe . . . and about 13 years old. On second thought, I think I'd outgrown the ability to see an insult in such feeble, puerile jabs even by that age.

But why does that sound so familiar?

    ReplyDelete
  16. You picked right up on that too, 45superman.

The same bombast, the same grandiosity, the same assumption of superiority, the same emotional instability, the same inability to deal with ideas, philosophy, and principles without descending into ad hominem.

The same as that guy who set up a website filled with scatological obscenity directed at a fellow academic over a minor political disagreement.

In short: Professor Alexander Tristan Riley, PhD. Bucknell University.

    Welcome, Professor!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Oh guys! Whatever happened to your powers of detection? Take a look at my IP address. I'm not posting from Lewisburg PA, am I?

I smell fear too. A bunch of NRA weenies filling their panties because they realise they've overstepped the mark and don't know who they're dealing with now.

False allegations made online by people who haven't a clue what their legal position is but are facing the sudden realisation that it isn't good.

Look to the IP address for it is the holy grail, an evidential masterstroke proving beyond all reasonable doubt that he done it. Erm ... Gee guys, looks like you've fucked up.

P.S. @45superman. Ducky, if you were 13 you'd probably know a little more about computers than apparently do.

P.P.S. @gaviota: I am not Professor Alexander Tristan Riley PhD. The libel fairly trips off your finger tips doesn't it? Perhaps, in fact, I'm Spartacus? Hope 45superman doesn't get too excited though, I'm not that way inclined.

  18. That guy posted a comment on one of my blog entries with tons of misspellings just like his site. I checked out his or her linked blog & quickly came to the same realization you did. I deleted his or her comment because I didn't want any traffic to be sent his or her way. I'm glad that he or she is gone. Somebody had way too much time on their hands to go to all that effort.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Oh, golly, gee whiz. I guess I fell into your legal trap. What a cunning plan you have there, Baldrick.

You know, David, you're right. You are cautious, even generous, with your evidence, even to the point of calling for an independent investigation of both sides, including pro-gun bloggers. Too bad that kind of generosity and reasoned restraint isn't being reciprocated. So I apologize to you for jumping the gun. I may very well be wrong.

But I plead provocation. You know what did it for me?

This: Oh, and what is it with the references to the Niger Delta?

Here is where his fear shows, in a way intuitively and glaringly obvious to the most casual observer. His deliberately disingenuous deconstruction of a scurrilous racial epithet into an innocuous geographical reference.

That kind of dishonesty can only be motivated by the desperate fear that his career and prestige will go the way of Don Imus, Dwayne "Dog" Chapman, Michael Richards, Mel Gibson, and others when they were publicly outed using filthy, unforgivable language denigrating blacks, Jews, gays, and other minorities.

So, what can a terrified public figure do?

Try to cover his tracks, delete incriminating evidence, and with seething hatred, malice, and cruelty, attack, threaten, and abuse those who can identify him.

It means nothing, of course. Anyone with a modicum of research ability can see through his hollow threats of legal action. Libel requires the plaintiff to prove 3 things: Untruth, malice, and harm. If Deaddick/Spartacus/Bravely Anonymous is not Dr. Alex, then he's not even remotely involved in the case, is he? If he IS the good professor, then it's up to him to prove Untruth, Malice, and Harm, which is a fiendishly difficult thing to do. Especially considering the things he HAS signed his name to, which will inevitably be compared to the things he claims are untrue. Including all of the viciously racist, anti-Semitic, homophobic polemics already recovered from the Internet. Good luck selling THAT to a jury, particularly any jury with black/Jewish/gay members.

As for his vaunted internet skills, where was his ability to spoof IP numbers when all of his blogs, emails, and postings all pointed to the same region in Pennsylvania? But even if you're not a networking genius, it's not hard to find people in a University with the necessary skills to help you delete the evidence of your arrogance and intemperance, is it?

So, Deaddick/Spunkum/Whatever, whoever you are, use your stunning Internet skills to send your libel lawsuit filing to my home address. Won't be hard. See you in court.

    ReplyDelete
  20. DeadEye:

It's OK. If Prof. Riley chooses to bring up a libel suit, all we have to do is counter w/ his final post on his self-admitted "vermin" blog where he states that we will commit illegal and immoral actions. That fits the definition of libel.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I don't quite think there's enough here yet for a libel suit. That's why our anonymous friend has compelled me to expand this a bit. We'll start the campaign to call this to the attention of some people of influence on Monday.

I mean, when even Bryan Miller wants to distance himself from you, it'll be interesting to see what people with real reputations think.

As for shifting IP addresses, big deal. A lot of people travel for the holidays, they change on laptops, there are libraries and Kinkos, etc., etc., plus the subject of our inquiry could have some fellow outpatients suffering the same inadequacies as he does.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Look at all the angst.

That's what happens when your daddy leaves you. Some can't handle that, and desperately want the attention of men, but hate them at the same time for being abandoned. It's so pathetic and cliche it's laughable. Hence the over-emphasis on homosexual slurs, the hostility toward the tools of men, the refuge in the androgynous halls of academia where manhood is not a criteria for recognition, and the refusal to accept the universal responsibility of men to protect one's family and community. If he really loved his daughter, he'd prepare himself to be more than a trussed witness if she were ever endangered, and use every resource, including his own life, to keep that from happening.

The only course left for such a pathological and twisted coward is to lash out at his betters. In the end, it's all a sad and effeminate little boy's cries for attention from the daddy who didn't love him enough to stay.

    ReplyDelete
  23. If you go and check the Rate your Professor website, you'll find that most of Alex's students despise him, too.

I wonder if 'being sh*tty to everyone' is a valid defense in a libel suit?

Will CeaseFirePA just fire his *ss, or will they let him resign? Last time I checked, he isn't even listed on the CF-PA site beyond a fleeting mention in the press release.

  25. To believe that the government doesn't have a more accurate means of tracing a comment or computer used is pure ignorance or denial of the truth.

I also find the argument that the SS has better things to do quite amusing. If you think youtube hasn't been contacted you need to get back on your meds and return to the real world.

After being exposed to this lunatic, I'm somewhat glad that the mentally ill will soon be denied guns since the government won't put them away for the greater good. If only people like this would be talked about instead of the media whore of the day maybe we could make some progress in fixing the ills in this country...remove them from any position of power, lock them up and heavily medicate them back to reality.

After reading some of ATRs rantings, I would prescribe a one way time machine ticket to a fatherland more in line with his views.

  27. Yeah, anon, but I thought we were going to be sued for libel, which may open things up a bit. Besides which, we're far from done--for instance, well, wait 'til tomorrow.

And as far as "Max" goes, from the checking around I've done, it would seem 'Cultureproctologist' was referencing a certain someone's posted bio page, as opposed to "projecting."

But there's one other thing I wish you'd help me understand--if it's NOT who it seems to be, well, I'd think he'd want to find out whose been framing him more than anyone. Why do you suppose he doesn't?

Oh, yeah-- so we can keep digging ourselves in deeper and he can sue us. I'm laughing at that one. From what I've read elsewhere, we all are.

    ReplyDelete
  28. "if I knew what your IP address was, I could make this post of mine appear as though it was made from your computer."

That would actually be fairly impressive, were it true.

Spoofing an IP address enough to send out an IP or ICMP packet, or ten thousand, one way is not too hard. Getting return traffic to flow to you instead of the computer you're spoofing is much harder; you need to compromise or confuse routers for that, just about always.

And you need to get that return traffic, in order to respond to it, before you can complete a TCP handshake. You need to do that in order to set up a TCP stream, which you need for a HTTP connection, which you need to do the HTTP PUT operation to create one of these posts.

Certainly it's possible to do that from a spoofed IP, but I'd put it far past your typical script kiddie who hasn't spent a few years working with Cisco kit and doesn't know his TCP/IP RFC's by heart. I doubt if I could do it myself, and I'm in the IT business.

Besides, a person capable of doing such things would scarcely bother forging weblog comments with their skills. They'd have better to do with their time; were they inclined to do evil, they could do far worse than that.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Well, Anonymous, I can do it for one but then I'm a very skilled IT consultant with much low-level networking experience and from a telecomms background. It's certainly not outwith the bounds of probability that the rabid dogs hereabouts have recruited a similarly skilled person in order to discredit their enemies.

Certainly, the possibility of such actions is, IMHO, sufficient to discredit the attacks here and on associated blogs. I doubt very much that, without some extremely extensive gathering of evidence using federal warrants and extremely expensive forensic networking and computer science expertise, the owner of this blog will be able to prove a thing, leaving himself open to some potentially runinous law suits.

My advice to Mr Codrea would be to drop the matter now before it gets seriously out of hand. He and his buddies would also be well advised to figure out how to erase their tracks on Google too.

Ultimately, the only winners in these things really are the lawyers. I, personally, object to enriching such people but sometimes people find it necessary to protect their families and livelihoods. Putting someone's back to the wall like that is illadvised to say the least unless you're very sure of your position indeed. Are you so sure Mr Codrea?

    ReplyDelete
  30. Yay, more legal threats from Mr. Bravely Anonymous along w/ libelous accusations as well.

The difference is, we're not cowards and we stand behind our words w/o deleting them when our bosses tell us to.

You may notice that, unlike the numerous accusations made by you, Alex, NRAFOUREVER, et al against the "gun lobby", we've called for an independent inquiry into the matter to determine the truth.

If it's not Riley, why is he not out here condemning the quotes attributed to him? Why is he not calling for an investigation into who's going around pretending to be him? Instead, he made a quick post shortly before he took down his own libelous blog throwing out strawmen arguments w/ no links to what was actually said. What does that say about the matter?

Put up or shut up troll.

    ReplyDelete
  31. If Professor Riley wants to take up the accuser's burden of proof that he was libeled, he'll certainly have his work cut out for him.

Merely proving, for example, that "NRAFOUREVER" is not really a pseudonym behind from which Professor Riley spewed his venom is not enough--not nearly enough. That's because no one (as far as I am aware) claimed certainty that he was. We merely pointed out why we suspected so. Therefore, to prove our statements false, our accuser would somehow have to prove that we did not suspect a direct link.

That would seem a rather tall order.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Well, gee, anon, there's no real way to erase anything, is there? I mean, even if I tried, I'm sure you have screen shots, and as you say, subpoenas could be issued.

So it looks like I'm in it for keeps. It looks like my back is against the wall.

Oh well, if I can't get around it or retreat, I guess I'll just have to go through it.

Funny. I smell fear. And I know it's not coming from me.

Maybe that's because I'm proud of the words I've written. Unlike people who are compelled to hide behind anonymous monickers and erase what they've said from the record.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Two things to say--

    Regarding the misspellings:
People almost never ADD letters when they misspell something. When typing, misspelling occurs usually either through vowel or silent consonant subtraction, or geographical proximity or inversion (for example, "the" is often misspelled "teh," as a result of people typing too fast), or homonym use ("there" in place of "their"). Alex Riley's misspellings don't fit the heuristic used by any spelling-analysis software I've ever seen. I can only conclude that they're intentional.

As far as IP spoofing goes, there are a few possibilities. In order of ease, they are:
    1) He could relocate to an different physical location. This requires no intelligence. There's no guarantee you'll get the IP address you want, though.
    2) Use a proxy server in the area he's trying to spoof. This isn't too hard, but there's still no way of spoofing the exact IP you want to use, just its geographical area.
    3) Use a VPN connection to the area you're trying to spoof, or the facility you're trying to spoof. You'd have to have someone there set up a VPN endpoint for you, however.
    4) Packet-level reconstruction. Like the poster mentioned above, this is incredibly difficult. Most CCNAs and CCNPs I know couldn't manage it. Spoofing outbound packets is easy. Getting a return stream, however, is incredibly difficult.

I find it fascinating how many hoplophobes think we're a bunch of uneducated hicks. Just because their knowledge of computers is limited doesn't mean they need to project their ignorance onto me.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Over on one of the gun boards, someone commented about moonbats doing a false flag operation at a gun rally.

    I can see the point.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Libel is a civil procedure, which means that his case would expose him to discovery. You cannot opt out of discovery without asserting a Fifth Amendment right against self incrimination, and when you do that, there is a legal inference that you are asserting the right because the evidence would have weighed against you. That means that the court and jury simply assumes that the evidence is what the other sides says it would be.

So, let him proceed. The first thing demanded in discovery by the defense should be a forensic image of the hard drives on all his computers and the records of the ISP should be subpoenaed. Truth is, after all, an absolute defense to libel, and the defendants must be allowed to investigate that fully.

In other words, "don't throw me in that briar patch!"
