The Most Important Point

The gunman was killed by a member of the church's armed security staff before police arrived...
This is what we must focus on.

  1. 7000 targets and he only kills two with his "high-powered" rifle, because of a single armed man, but none of the reporters (?) have made the comparison between results. Sort of like there may be an agenda at work here. Especially when they constantly reference other atrocities where everyone was unarmed, as germane to the issue, but fail to note the disparity of results between armed targets and unarmed targets.

  2. I understand that the security guard is a woman.

Thank God for her decisive action under difficult circumstances.

  3. As I have posted on other blogs, this supports the old saying inspired by Colt,"God created man,Colt made the equal." This why a woman, is automatically weaker than her male counterpart, can still be as effective in stopping bad guys twice her size. So, take heed soccer moms of the world, guns to save lives and it could be yours it saves next.

  4. Joes Crabby Shack has an account of a man that wished he were armed at the mall in Omaha.

This is a must read! You can feel the fear! You can understand his regret in not being armed!

  5. The pastor told a group of news reporters, as reported on Fox News this morning, that the woman who stopped the murderer was a member of the church, with a concealed carry permit, using her own personal firearm, serving as an unpaid volunteer.

    That's MY kind of church!

  6. My instant reaction was: Why does a church need security personnel ... then it hit me that I was looking at the reason.

Now I'm a little sad, and my ardor has grown a little bit.

  7. Security Guard 'Saved Over 100 Lives'

(CNSNews.com) - Many people are expressing relief that a volunteer security guard used her own gun to stop a man on a shooting spree Sunday. "She probably saved over 100 lives," the Brady Boyd, the pastor of the New Life Church in Colorado Springs, said on Monday. The female guard, a church member dressed in plain clothes, killed the gunman after he opened fire at the mega-church. Boyd said she "rushed toward the attacker and took him down in the hallway" as he entered the building. The shooting erupted around 1 p.m., at the end of a service, when 7,000 people were either inside the New Life Church or just leaving. "He was just walking and shooting," the Denver Post quoted one witness as saying. The gunman, still unidentified, shot at least eight people, killing two teenage sisters, the pastor said. The girls were 16 and 18 years old. Their father, also shot, is listed in father condition. The gunman is believed to be the same young man who shot and killed two people earlier the same day at a missionary training center in suburban Denver. In that case, the gunman opened fire, reportedly after he was refused permission to spend the night at the missionary center. The gunman was described as skinny, in his 20s, about 6 feet tall and dressed in black, police said. KUSA-TV reported that the gunman was wearing a "tactical helmet and body armor." The church's pastor said the New Life Church "prepared in advance" for a possible attack, after hearing about the shooting at the missionary training center.

  8. Unpaid volunteer, CPL license, attending service, carrying concealed, no uniform.

She wasn't a "security guard." She was a church-goer who was simple attending service and refusing to go disarmed. Which in quite a few states is AGAINST THE LAW!

Therefore, to not show the complete stupidity of yet another gun control law, (no guns in church), we will call our hero a "security guard" and people will forget the state calls her a criminal.

Come on... this is a great opportunity to show the real affects of gun control. One good woman saved many lives, but to do so, SHE HAD TO BREAK THE LAW!

  9. It may be illegal in some states, but is it against the law in Colorado?

In any case, I agree that it's a good talking point, that some states dictate that any church-goers be armed (isn't this a violation of the principle of Separation of Church and State?)

  10. She was one of several members who volunteered to work security. Some of them, not all, had permits and carried, including her.
Anyone wanna bet that the Bradys try to kill this one quick? Can't let such a prime example of cause and effect slip into the mainstream media and destroy their message of citizens as helpless incompetents unable to provide their own defense.

  11. Uncle Lar,
Do you have a reference that she actually volunteered prior to the shooting?

It looks to me like she took the goblin down and the Pastor decided on teh "volunteer" security guard story as a good way to keep this heroine safe. If that is the case then I say BRAVO to the Pastor. The thing is, by running TOWARD "the rattle of musketry" she was, in effect, volunteering. She was puting her body and her skill in arms between the defenseless and the creatures of evil.

Basically, I am just curious. Well, curious and saddened that it has become necessary to create these fictions here in the land of the free. I just keep thinking about the consequences if someone had been armed in Omaha. Somehow, I have a feeling that they would be charged with murder and quite possibly conspiracy to commit murder and linked to the goblin who did the shooting. Perhaps I'm just cynical, but I would not want to be caught protecting people.
