Refuge, New York Times Style

They also appear to have forgotten that national parks and refuges are federal lands, set aside as peaceful preserves for all the species that enjoy them, including humans. Ready-to-fire guns have no place in them.

  1. In the propoganda in the link, the dimwit cries about the rights of people who do not wish to be responsible for their own safety. Why? I have never insisted that cowards be forced to be armed, have you?

  2. I'm just sick of this belief that national parks are these utopian environments where the lion sits next to the lamb and the bears all wear funny hats and talk about forest fires and picnic baskets.

It's pretty damned hard to enjoy the beauty of your surroundings when the bear is eating your intestines and you're screaming at the top of your lungs.

Kind of ruins the iconic scene doesn't it?
