We're the Only Ones Without Citizen Back-Up Enough

A vagrant wanted for questioning in a rape overpowered a police officer who was trying to handcuff him, then shot her to death with her own weapon Monday, police said.

Remember New Orleans.

It sounds callous and unsympathetic, and I don't mean to be. But if we refuse to examine conditions emanating from government that make events like this inevitable, and I'm talking a whole range of issues here, nothing will ever improve.

  1. "I can tell you this officer fought with a man twice her size, and she fought very courageously," Riley said. "She followed procedure as far as we're concerned."

Unfortunate. Courage did'nt help her, nor following procedure. She still lost....

  2. "But if we refuse to examine conditions emanating from government that make events like this inevitable, and I'm talking a whole range of issues here, nothing will ever improve."

One of those issues being the inane idea that women are somehow equal to men in a fight.

"This is a very difficult and sad day for the New Orleans Police Department," Riley said. "I just left a group of officers who are crying, upset."

Another one is the insane excessive encouragement of "sensitivity" over the harsh realities of life itself. Nobody gets out of here alive. Its merely a question of when and how you go.

  3. Same day in Shreveport, La. a man being questioned by an officer, shot the officer in the jaw and he escaped. The officer is listed in "serious but stable" condition and is expected to make a full recovery. For that, I am glad.

However, today it was announced that the police organization, sorry I don't remember the name, except it wasn't the FOP, has offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to the apprehension of the shooter.

I think that says something unflattering about cops and their opinions of the rest of us citizens. Especially if one views their lackadaisacal attitude when it comes to capturing shooters of other people.
