We're the Only Ones Standing Our Ground Enough

A man from rural Hammond, Wis., was shot dead late Saturday by St. Croix County sheriff's deputies, who said he pointed a shotgun at them.
What, you mean they weren't looking for an excuse to kill someone? They stood their ground and had no duty to retreat?

Why do you think it is that "Only Ones" have such obvious superior judgment and morality over us mere citizens?

  1. Am I the only one who sees something very wrong with the police responding to a "suicidal man" call and then shooting the guy dead?

  2. No, you're not.

I also find the reported series of events to be suspicious. Allegedly suicidal man has friends talking him down then cops arrive and enter into an emotionally charged situation. Instead of retreating and allowing the man's friends to de-escalate the situation they shoot the guy holding the shotgun. It sounds like they are using that hyper-aggressiveness traingin which tends to escalate things. It may work fine for soldiers in a combat environment. However, cops are not soldiera and the US is not a combat environment.

  3. gregg: They keep behaving like this, it'll turn into a combat environment pretty soon.

  4. It is like the people who only want to be left alone, so the SWAT team arrives to shoot them.
