Hiding Our Shame in Utah

Lawmakers in the Utah House of Representatives decided to keep guns hidden on college campuses, although concealed weapons permit holders may open carry firearms throughout the state.
Because, you know, not only might it cause a bovine stampede, but Heaven forbid we should normalize the practice of seeing anyone besides an "Only One" armed, making it unremarkable if not outright acceptable...

And I say this as no proponent of "open carry," at least for everyday tactical reasons, because I have no right to impose my preference on you.

  1. Oh Hell, David, now you've done it!

That sissy at another website will be over here giving you "what for" believing it would be beneficial to society to normalize the right to arms so that it becomes emotionally acceptable, even to the sissies.

I agree with you, by the way, as regards tactics. But in the long run if we normalize the carrying of arms and it becomes widely acceptable the dynamics of the situation changes dramatically and tactical advantage is less likely to be needed. Simply because bad folks will be outnumbered and outgunned everywhere and could not escape capture at the least, injury of death at the most. Thus making them more timid.

Watch out for the foaming sissies.

  2. "There are only a few states with the right to conceal carry, so we're already singled out," (Student Body President Spencer) Pearson said. "This would just be taking the next step."

Wrong. Only two states totally forbid concealed carry by non-OnlyOnes. Thirty-six states have "shall-issue" permit laws.

A child who doesn't get it.

"I think it's a little more scary," said Danielle Haga, a junior in elementary education. "I know very few crazy people actually pull a gun on campus, but there's the thought. If they have a gun, who knows what might happen."

Another child who doesn't get it.

Jen Williams, a junior in elementary education, said she would feel more comfortable if only police officers and security guards were allowed to carry guns.

Still another child who doesn't get it.

"I don't feel safer just because they're hiding it, but it doesn't make me feel unsafe," said Trevor Thomas, a junior in mechanical engineering. "I just choose not to live in fear."

YES!! A man who gets it!
