PA GOP "Moderates" Screw Gun Owners

Nine Philadelphia-area Republicans signaled last week they would break ranks with their caucus today and support handgun-control legislation when the state House of Representatives resumes debate on a controversial proposal.

The measure, which would require reporting handguns that are lost or stolen, has been vigorously pushed by Democrats in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh as a "common sense" restriction that would reduce gun violence.
Bull. It won't do a damned thing to "reduce gun violence"and these idiots know it. If they don't, they shouldn't be trusted with matches or pointy objects.

As a matter of fact, "prohibited persons," that is, criminals will be the "only ones" exempted from the requirement, since forcing them to report they had illegally possessed a gun would violate their Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination.

How about some "common sense politician control" for a change?

The article doesn't ID all of the republitards, but does give us the names of two, who deserve to hear from PA gun owners in no uncertain terms:

Rep. John Perzel

Rep. John Taylor

Naturally, the bill's sponsor, democrat Rep. David Levdansky bills himself as "an avid hunter."

It's past time gun owners stopped letting republicans betray them and still get elected. If you agree, tell them so--and let them know this betrayal will be remembered if and when they run for future office for the rest of their miserable political lives.

If anyone knows the names and how to contact the other dopey seven dwarfs, please give us that info via "Comments," below.

  1. Perzels been distorting the facts on EVERYTHING for years. The people in his District have gotten exactly what they want and deserve.

This is the same guy who complains about his Salary and Perks, that it's "hard" to get by on 6 figures! He even said tattoo artists make better money.

To Hell with the GOP, NRA, and all the others.

Total losers! Oh, yeah, letters sent.

  2. Probably best if everyone contacts their state reps on this one whether they are the other seven dwarves or not. This issue doesn't break down along party lines in Pennsylvania, so much as along urban, suburban, and rural. The urban reps are almost uniformly in favor of more gun control, with the rural reps being opposed, and the suburban reps trying a carve out a middle ground.

The problem for gun owners is that the "middle ground" a lot of the suburban reps are carving out is to accept the "Lost and Stolen" nonsense while stating they remain opposed to everything else, largely because I think they see it as a way to look reasonable to their non-gun owning constituents.

They have to hear from constituents. Most of these guys seem to know this bill is a turd, and as appalled as I am that they are saying "We'll vote for it anyway", if they hear from constituents telling them no, they'll probably come back to Jesus. But they'll only do that if they think voting yes is going to hurt them.

  3. Sounds to me like they are only being pragmatic. Is it fair to call them on it, when we embrace pragmatism?

That is snark, just for the slow ones.

  4. Well, I found http://www.legis.state.pa.us/cfdocs/legis/home/member_information/email_list.cfm?body=H

which is a list of the entire PA House of Representatives.
    Then there's http://www.legis.state.pa.us/cfdocs/legis/home/find.cfm
where you can find your legislator by zip code or county.

Hope the links don't get scrambled.
    Stay safe
