With a showdown looming, U.S. Rep. Norm Dicks says he’s prepared to block any effort by the administration to lift the current ban on carrying loaded weapons in national parks.Cocky representative of his namesake, isn't he?
Funny how none of the opponents of the reform can point to their dire predictions coming true in National Forests, which already operate under essentially the same rules being proposed for National Parks.
“Everyone knows when you have guns, bad things happens,” Dicks said in an interview.Yeah, Norm, tell that to these people, you lying...
I guess we are no longer obligated to fund National Forests from the general fund or other excise taxes?
ReplyDeletetjh,
ReplyDeleteNational Parks, not National Forests. National Forests do not have any weapon restrictions, though Fish and Game can get a little testy if you are carrying without a hunting license.
David, you're just loving the leeway of using the euphemisms for the male part of the anatomy at will, aren't you? ;-)
ReplyDeleteIn 2006, our national parks saw violent crimes including 11 killings, 35 rapes or attempted rapes, 61 robberies, 16 kidnappings and 261 aggravated assaults.
ReplyDeleteBy all means have a safe and happy visit!
Truth is a whole lot of us folks ignore their stupid rules anyway which has a lot to do with why those numbers are not larger.
Norm Dicks...........what more can I say?
ReplyDeleteEvery time I read about this topic, I think of Meredith Emerson.
