Somewhere, there is a line between reasonably prudent and cautious, and stark nutjob paranoid. The Secret Service doesn't even trust the soldiers, sworn to support and defend the Constitution of the United States, and obey the orders of the President.Maybe they're worried about some of the new recruits...

A-ha. "Remove springs from magazines."
ReplyDeleteThe empty mag wells in soldiers' rifles in photos of events like this have been noticed, and the People have started wondering why. Now they can LOOK like they're trusted, at least, while keeping the area "steral."
Great recruiting strategy.
On the other hand, the same way we civilians are treated.
At least the military are not the only ones not trusted enough....
ReplyDeleteRidiculous. I am at a loss.
Maybe the SS is worried that one of those troops will actually take that oath to defend the Constitution seriously.
ReplyDeleteI look for the day when attending marksmanship contests is SOP for political candidates, even Presidential candidates.
ReplyDeleteI want all politicians to have had the experience of delivering a speech with the day's Blue Ribbon winner sitting in the front row, cradling her rifle and scowling.
I guess we "civilians" are the "only ones" that have to pass through a metal detector to insure we are not carrying anything more than change in our pockets. The soldiers however, must pass through a "medal" dectector to insure they have had their backbone removed.
ReplyDeleteI've said it before: if the universe turned upside down and I were elected President, I would expect everyone around me to be as fully armed as I would be.
ReplyDeleteKent,
ReplyDeleteI would fire the SS and expect the Marine PPD to do its job.
