We're the Only Ones Occupying Enough

One answer to curbing Chicago's gun violence, according to police, is putting officers on the streets dressed in full battle gear and traveling in vehicles normally used in hostage and barricade situations.
Welcome to Brady Paradise! Coming to a city near you!

Nice vision of Amerika, nein?

This is the shape of things to come for any society that thinks the answer to anything is to create an "Only Ones" state.

  1. "Semi-assault" weapons. Feh. I wonder if these brainiacs have ever considered how long it takes to exhaust a man in full dress battle gear. Especially donut-fed, free-range only ones. Which is why Rangers and Special Forces go in with heavy packs, dump and hide them, and go to the attack position with ammo and water and guns. Having some experience with that, I'll be waiting for some pictures on the net of these wannabe only ones asleep with all their crap on. Oh, and MS-13 and others may see them, and look on it as a challenge.

  2. Sean, are you telling us that dressing for a role does not turn an actor into the character?

Y'know, that makes sense. When I was a little kid, I had a Zorro costume--man, I haven't thought about that in years---cape, hat, mask and sword--I remember that's where I first learned the word "polyethylene," 'cause that's the type of plastic it was made from. Cool sword, too--it had a special tip that held a piece of chalk, so I could go around putting "Z's" all over the dang place without actually ruining anything.

Not sure why I went off on this tangent except to say that, my imagination notwithstanding, it did not turn me into a skilled avenger of wrongs except in my head. Although I do imagine dressed like that, I would have posed a credible enough threat to warrant a justifiable homicide ruling if one or more of the militarized "Only Ones" had felt threatened and opened up on me...

  3. Nice, the incompetent idiot Daley's solution to his complete lack of leadership is to turn the city of Chicago into an occupied militarized zone. What fun for the "Only Ones" they can string concertina wire, set up check points, and play GI Joe by shooting anyone who's papers are not in order. What a warm fuzzy that will give the tourists.

  4. Hey, be quite. We are polishing up for the olympics!

    Or, is that pollishing?

  6. "this is not a police state"
(said in the tone of "these aren't the droids you're looking for")

  7. Imagine this paramilitary black-clad ninja force in armored personnel carriers on your block asking to do voluntary warrantless home searches.
I think we're there, ladies and gentlemen. Nagin wants a semi-permanent National Guard police presence in New Orleans 2 1/2 years after Katrina when he took all the guns. Gov. Jindal says he'll be "flexible" on that request.

  8. So are they telling the community now that they've declared us as the enemy?"

Exactly! Welcome to Reality 2008! Now, and I mean RIGHT NOW, is the only time you have left to stop this monstrosity in the courts of the justice system, and after that all you will have left is the court of public opinion.

If you fail in the justice system's courts, then the only possible way to avoid the Police State will be for every citizen in the court of public opinion who can stand up, see lightning, and hear thunder to stand on the ammo box, and open fire on every one of these storm troopers every time they are spotted on the streets until they are too terrified to come to work.

Note for the record: I DID NOT SAY "KILL THEM." Just make them afraid of you. Accidents can happen, though.

It's never gonna happen, of course. Not until the disappearings get out of hand and the concentration camps are full.
