Decisive

Abigail Adam's astute analysis of the significance of Bunker Hill, referenced in today's "This Day in History" offering, provides the springboard for Mike Vanderboegh's latest, "Decisive."

Trouble is, it's posted at Mindful Musings and Western Rifle Shooters Association, and I can't decide which one to link to--so I just did both.

  1. David, could you tell or point me towards some help in this area, such as how, where, when, who, what, etc. Would be much appreciated.

  2. Sean, I don't mean to be thick-headed, but I just am at a loss as to what you're asking me here.

If you're asking about a modern equivalent of a domestic force to fight a new Bunker Hill, there is none--yet. If there ever will be is another story, but I doubt if one ever manifests that it will use 18th-Century tactics.

  3. I beg pardon for horning in, but maybe an Appleseed shoot would address sean's question? That was my first impression.

  4. Sean,

    Second on the appleseed shoot.

That would be a good first step toward joing/adding to the Nation of Rifleman(women).

Fire disipline is formost in an infantry unit.

eg you have to drag all your ammo around. so don't waste it.

    hit your target(s)

Folks I know back from the sandbox and the Stans' all recount the fun and games of getting the locals to frelling aim.

in the Stans' it drove one guy nuts as a few of his friends had Dad/Uncles that had run the Soviet Army out of there mainly w/ rifles.

(and stingers and lots of $$$)

  5. David,
You are right about not using 18th century tactics. That went out the window during WW1. Tactics changed again during WW2, again in Korea, again in Vietnam, etc.

The only way that we could do another war for independence would be to use a blend of historical tactics and to use some of the tactics that are being employed against our military in the middle east (minus the suicide bombs and targeting of civilians).

Appleseeds is a good starting point, but other programs like what fronsight, etc. also put on will help out.
