A letter to the editor today condemns Philip Van Cleave of the Virginia Citizens Defense League for shrugging and saying a deer rifle would have been just as deadly as an AK-style semi-auto in a murder in which the victim was shot once in the back. "We have to stop worrying about the rights of the few who find it necessary to own assault-type weapons," says Lisa Quigley of Midlothian, Va. I believe she's one of the followers of that Spangler false-grassroots MMM millionaire agitator. "Local, state and national reasonable gun policies to end this senselessness." I'm sure I'm the wrong kind of person to own one. Come take it, Quigley.
The odd thing is, Tahliek Taliaferro seems to have been under the impression that he was being invited to a FISTFIGHT, not his execution. HE had no gun. When he saw theirs, he tried to drive or run away, his only option. We draw quite different lessons from this incident. As does Mr. Van Cleave. WHo is the one really lacking in compassion for the victim?
That would be "someone who takes responsibility for the safety of his family and his community". Notice that he didn't shoot the wrong kids.
