The -- the reality of gun ownership may be different for hunters in rural Ohio than they are for those plagued by gang violence in Cleveland, but don't tell me we can't uphold the Second Amendment while keeping AK-47s out of the hands of criminals.
(APPLAUSE)
It's official. The Lightworker just promised a new "assault weapons" ban.
I suggest making preparations without delay if you haven't already, because on a personal level, he comes across so much better than "My friends" McCain--it reminds me of the Kennedy/Nixon telegenic factor.
If you didn't hear the speech, watch it on the Internet or read this transcript. Look at everything he promises, and then compare it to what this authorizes him to do.
Not that I believe McCain's pledges would fare much better under such scrutiny.
Preparations well under way. Had the same reaction as you did when he said that last night. He's got a knack for talking out of both sides of his mouth. Said he opposed the misguided war in Iraq, but wanted more troops in Afghanistan. So which is it? Is he agin the war, or for it? Probably only for it, if it's going well, and he doesn't have to put on a uniform.
ReplyDeleteI promise to keep my semi-auto militia rifle.
ReplyDeleteOh, yeah, OK, "out of the hands of criminals," including those in government.
A lot hinges on that piece of incrementalism called the grandfather clause. If you own it at the time the law goes into effect, you'll be ALLOWED to keep it.
Hey, strike that clause out, mandate registration, I don't care. Make me a criminal, then try to take it. I have no long-range plans. I hope the agents of confiscation don't.
A lot hinges on that piece of incrementalism called the grandfather clause. If you own it at the time the law goes into effect, you'll be ALLOWED to keep it.
ReplyDeleteHey, strike that clause out, mandate registration...
That's exactly what they did in California, Defender. And guess who helped them get gun owners registered?
David,
ReplyDeleteSo what happens next? Do we vote for McCain to hopefully keep the Lightbringer out, Barr as a better alternative but who will lose, or say to hell w/ it and deal w/ whatever POS we end up w/?
California AW registration? Without clicking the link, I know: The NRA. "Obey existing laws. If we don't oppose them sufficiently, then the come to exist, so obey them." Obey so you won't get shot. Bill Doss nearly was.
ReplyDeleteAs for the Repugnicans, Eric Cantor, party deputy whip, says McCain will probably choose Pawlenty or Romney for VP, and Pawlenty says he isn't it. Romney has plenty of experience with semi-auto bans.
ReplyDeleteBetween Barack and a hard place...
Thirdpower--I didn't create this mess, the people who have conditioned us to tolerating the lesser of two evils until this is the pathetic point we are at have. So expecting me to have a solution that will undo all this and that everyone will embrace is not something anyone should count on--I have no power.
ReplyDeleteThing is, nobody else has a solution either.
Some things can't be fixed, and/or, the answer is not one anyone will like.
I'm not voting for McCain. Everybody else can do what they like. They can blame it on people like me if they want.
I tried playing it by "the system" with the only morally acceptable choice--and all the pragmatists are still throwing out "troofer" and "racist" and "tinfoil hat" insults and lies about Ron Paul and those of us who supported him.
Fine--have it their way. Things either bend or they break.
Hail to the Chief.
David,
ReplyDeleteThat's pretty much the question I was asking. Just looking for your thoughts on the matter. W/ Palin as his VP pick, I'll hold my nose and check the box.
I will never, ever, vote for the lesser of two (or three) evils again. If you do, you have no right to complain when the inevitable occurs.
ReplyDeleteIf there is no good candiadte you are better off not voting at all. And stating loudly and often why you refuse to be cornered into voting for evil. Don't legitimize this circus by falling for the trap of endorsing the clowns we are handed.
It's gonna be bad no matter who "wins" (and "more draconian government" ALWAYS wins). Since there is no real choice, spend the time you would waste voting, and lending your approval to the system, preparing for the coming unpleasantness.
Become an active, determined, Three-percenter.
Preparations well under way here as well.
ReplyDeleteMy 2 cents is that Obama will be the next president and we should concentrate on congressional races.
A government in total gridlock is looking pretty good right now.
A Maryland man has been arrested on gun and explosives charges. He also had a map of the area of the Camp David presidential retreat.
ReplyDeleteThat's two in one week.
Now, it's easy to get a gun charge in the People's Republic of Maryland, and "explosive" can mean many things too, like a can of gunpowder. Camp David is in the middle of a national forest/national park/military reservation, but if you have a state map, you coul be said to have a map of "the area."
Another piece of government-sponsored theater to scare the people into doing something stupid, or another pathetic loser looking to get on TV?
How'd that work out with you, Charlie and Brian? Can't wait to move to LA -s-.
ReplyDeleteI still have my unregistered "assault weapon." Although I'm sure there are some who would say I'd have deserved my punishment if caught disobeying gun laws and making us all look bad.
ReplyDeleteYeah Ca. wanted mine too, but it left on an airplane with me a couple days after I bought it. Funny, I didn't register it, but they knew I had it. Just a lucky guess,uh huh.
ReplyDeleteMy M1A National Match has a compensator on it, not an evil flash hider. I'd say about 30% less muzzle climb, all while maintaining it's innocent status as a less-deadly -than-an-"assault weapon". 2 more years and I'm out of here.
