They're scared of you, too.

  1. He shouldn't have apologized.

  2. He did say he was planning to hunt warthogs, baboons, and jackals.... I can see why Pelosi would be scared. No mistaking her for an impala, though, they being creatures of grace and beauty.

  3. Let's see, no laws were broken, but he was arrested. NO! don't give me that shit about two pistols in his luggage. For a firearm to be a "concealed" firearm it must be concealed on your person, not in your suitcase, not in your closet, not in your storage unit, not even in the trunk of your car, ON YOUR PERSON!

I have said it before and I will say it again. Coloradans are descendants of stock too weak and fearful to have made it all the way to California. Ummm, guess what? That makes them the weakest of the weak.

Just as an exercise in propaganda, does anyone suppose that Pelosi was evacuated AFTER the man was arrested. Much ado about a nothing.

O.K., folks, lets do the math here.
In town we have all the big honchos of a major political party.
Already, one man in Florida has been arrested for threatening Obama, and the head of the party was murdered in Little Rock.
Not only that, but Obama is the first biracial candidate for a major political party. Can anybody spell Ku Klux Klan? Aryan Nations? Neo Nazis?
Do I particularly LIKE Obama & Party? Not particularly. Do I even plan on voting for them in November, although I have been a Democrat all my life (so far)? No.
Do I believe in the right to bear arms? Yes.
Do I want Denver, 2008, to bring up memories of Los Angeles, 1968? or Dallas 1963? HELL, no.
So, for a week, and the safety and reputation of my city, am I willing to (cautiously) surrender some of my rights, or suffer some infringement thereof? ABSOLUTELY. FOR ONE WEEK.
Would I do it if it were the Republican convention? ABSOLUTELY.
Is anybody else willing to GROW UP and be responsible instead of just crying about their rights? I hope so.
    There's an old saying,
"Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're NOT out to get you."
Have a WONDERFUL convention week, Johninco I hope you enjoy Longmont, I can't figure out a way to get there or I'd join you in a heartbeat

So busqueen is willing to give up his rights - and yours! as if those are his to give - for one week.

What about the next event in town that requires giving up the rights for one week? If our rights can be suspended for "one week" for a "special occasion" then why have them?

  5. Anyone got a plugged nickel for his chances of being released and his guns returned to him in time to make his trip?
    Yeah, me neither.
And if he doesn't lawyer up and fight this, possibly with couter suits against the cops and the hotel, he may just find himself a felon and forbidden for life from ever touching a gun again.
It's all just to make us safer, ya know.

  7. It's odd that in the comments on the story a fellow states you "can not take handguns to Africa".

I disagree because I have. I have a Wildebeest hide with a .45 caliber hole in it courtesy of the BFR I took along with my rifles. It's a hassle to get them in but it can be done. I had to get a permission slip from the Police head honcho in Limpopo (where this unfortunate fellow was going to hunt). Was a bit of extra hassle at customs. Easily doable though. I still have my copies of the paperwork to prove it along with pictures of me and the dead beest while holding my BFR above it.

I hate people that spread misinformation about firearms and travel.

  8. Hearsay, but interesting new comment on the Denver news page:

Actually, CoSnowgirl the definition of concealed weapon is carrying it "near or upon your person" and without quoting it directly, the Colorado Revised Statutes define that as the weapon being readily and immediately available. A weapon in your vehicle's trunk or even far enough away from an occupant it can't be easily, quickly and readily reached, even if it is covered over, is not a "concealed weapon". A handgun locked inside a hard-sided case (I listened to some of this incident on my scanner) inside a locked hardsided suitcase isn't even remotely within that definition by the wildest stretch. This guy has an open and shut zillion dollar lawsuit if he wants it. If I knew I was going to pass more money to my heirs than they could ever spend in their lifetimes after Hyatt and Denver settle out of court, I wouldn't be at all upset, either.
