I'll take substance over style any day. And even though I knew what was coming practically from the start, I still enjoyed the hell out of the ending.

Very much like the tournament in "The Karate Kid." Guy does three or four jumping spinning kicks across the ring, and Daniel-san, in the Crane position because of his sprained ankle, puts him down with one snap kick with his good leg when he arrives.
ReplyDeleteIn the movie "Michael Collins," the men who handle the up-close-and-personal wet work against British tyrants are the unremarkable, unmemorable men who can get lost in a crowd of one. Average height, average build, no uniform, no camouflage, no bulging muscles or clever quips. One, named Broy, is constantly miscalled "Boy" by his British politician boss. The "boy" does a man's job against the Occupiers.
ReplyDeleteDr. Ruth Westheimer, 5'1", was a sniper for the Allies. She knows good sex and also concealment, windage and elevation. I wouldn't want her mad at ME.
Mostly it's being in the right place at the right time and doing something. People are heroic in everyday life, every day.
