Say "Cheesy"

To make good on his offer to help Chicago combat violence, Gov. Blagojevich envisions putting speed cameras on interstates across Illinois -- and using the revenue to form an "elite tactical team" that would operate in Chicago and other cities...

According to Trent, new State Police teams will stop motorists for traffic violations on Chicago expressways near high-crime areas. The troopers will also look for gun and drug violations. They can communicate with Chicago Police officers on radios and come to their aid when needed.
Ah, the "hog butcher for the world" has figured out a new way to fill the trough. And the fascists admit their speed traps have nothing to do with roadway safety and everything to do with highway robbery.

  1. Like the cameras on the highway? Soon as the rest of the goons in other states find out what a revenue stream it is, they'll be everywhere. Like in England. They opened a new, taxpayer funded recreational center in my town in July, wonderful pools inside and out, exercise machines, indoor track, meeting rooms, the place is first class all the way. Including the cameras, everywhere. I hope when they're watching me sweat on the weight machines, they notice that little smile I'm giving them.

  2. I heard that Britain has four million surveillance cameras. You know their crime stats as well as I do. It's not about crime. Not the criminal kind, anyway. The political kind. And crime is what they say it is.
People travling the northern corridor of the U.S. will go 500 miles out of the way to avoid Illinois once this stuff starts. All those gallons of expensive gas, acres of lodging, tons of meals that won't be sold...
But the feeling of POWER and CONTROL is worth putting strugling travel-dependent businesses OUT of business.
I know eventually there'll be nowhere to go to avoid it, unless...
