The link worked for me. A TV news video report. Bicyclist allegedly runs red light. Undercover cops looking for ticket scalpers outside Coors Field yell "Hey, you ran a red light, ---hole!" Cyclist rides over to one. They argue. Cyclist knocks basball cap off, then he's a punching bag. Cops lie. TV crew has it all on tape (from a safe distance, or they would have confiscated the tape or even broken the camera). Face it, we're all just ---holes unless we're cops. They can take time out from their undercover assignments (to prevent victimless crimes) to enforce traffic rules because when we mess up they take it as a personal insult. Mr. Heaney the bicyclist could have been injured by failing to observe traffic regs. Obviously the cops felt that 3-5 head punches and getting a front tooth knocked out with a face-slam to the pavement was preferable. This is psychotic behavior.
This is why the state should instead protect motorists from liability if they run over bicyclists who do not yet understand the basics of traffic... after 57 years.
And I agree that it's psychotic behavior. All the way from the beating to the DA who was prepared to convict for the assault of a hat.
Unbelievable lying douchebags! You have to feel sorry for them, I mean they thought they would be sliding across the hood of a Gran Torino, peeling out chasing real bad guys, maybe to a nice wakachickawakachika soundtrack, instead they are undercover scalp-ring busters. Dirty corruption stinks to high heaven.
Every time they assault citizens, they make it more likely that people will fear them, and that is going to get officers killed.
They can't expect people to submit to them if once they have you subdued, they break out your teeth. Those thugs should have their teeth broken out, then they should be fired. I would consider that justice.
Chris - Sorry that my attempt at humor didn't set well with you.
"What, long hair, and a different tone of voice makes him a hippy AND a dumbass?"
Riding up to a total stranger who yells at you for riding your bike stupid and then knocking his hat off makes you a Dumbass. Everytime. I thought that was sorta obvious.
David, I couldn't find the story.
ReplyDeleteAnon, the link goes to a video--I just tested it and it is working. Anyone else having trouble with this?
ReplyDeleteThat face plant was a nice touch. Without that video they would have gotten away with it too.
ReplyDeleteI do understand how Dumbass Hippies on bicycles who get in your face can drive ya to violence though.
Totally over the top response and lying under oath is what bothers me the most. They're supposed to be professionals.

Nice judgement call on a TOTAL STRANGER.
There will be no charges against these criminals and damn little sanction, maybe a week off work, if that.
ReplyDeleteSadly, if bystanders had pulled these criminals off, they would be facing hard time, even with the film.
I don't know how much longer people will accept this, but I suspect there soon will be actual retribution.
