An Indianapolis police officer arrested in a drunken-driving case Sunday has been involved in two prior alcohol-related accidents in which he was not charged. His patrol car was involved in a third case in which charges are under consideration. So he's been getting away with this for years--with the department's knowledge. That means this is the "Only One" judgment they knowingly employ to interact with the citizenry.
All of the accidents involving officer George Leon Benjamin, one dating to 2002, involved city vehicles.
...Benjamin refused to take a field sobriety test, the report said, but a breath test later determined his blood-alcohol level was 0.32, four times the level at which a driver in Indiana is considered intoxicated.
I wonder how many convictions, where much of the evidence was based on his testimony, will be reevaluated?
