Secret Operational Capabilities

"Locate, target and kill."
Not that this would ever be abused...

  1. The National Security Agency has the capability to record and analyze every phone, radio and Internet communication. Maybe that's what he's talking about. Sounds like the war SHOULD HAVE been over when Bush had his "Mission Accomplished" moment.
But then, maybe the Muslims over there have learned about three-member independent cells. There IS no communication except face to face. Very effective for guerilla forces.
al-Maliki of Iraq is suspect; Karzai of Afghanistan hasn't been talking nice about the U.S. lately either. Are the Brothers coming together at last? Israel even provided some weapons to the most moderate faction of Palestinian security forces. Thank you for your trust, and here are your complementary ROCKET VOLLEYS!...

  2. Bob Woodward said, "This is very sensitive and very TOP SECRET, but there are SECRET operational capabilities that have been developed by the military..."

Secret, secret, secret,...now where could I find the meaning of this strange and new word.

Well, when I was in the military, the word SECRET, or any other classified designation, meant that we were not to discuss the material with anyone not authorized and not directly involved. This might be called, "Need to know".

How does putting this information on national television keep it SECRET????

When will Bob Woodward be arrested for Treason. We are at war, right? Is the penalty death?

    He's authorized...never mind...go to your homes...nothing to see.

  3. There should be no excuse for a "government secret" and any authority who tries to keep one should be hanged (after his Olofson-like trial, of course).
These secrets do not keep you or me safe, but only protect the parasites in government office

  4. Purely hyperbole to sell a new book.

For decades the technology has existed to do almost anything in the arena of which Woodward speaks. And humint hasn't changed all that much since Mata Hari.

Of course there will be abuse. All power is utlimately abused. But Woodward is bringing nothing new to the table except a desire to own another Mercedes, and possibly scare the Hell out of anyone just prior to the election in an attempt to influence us toward "Hope and Change".

  5. Locate, target and kill, isn't that the object in war? Hasn't it always been? Why the scare words for a strategy and/or tactic that is as old an human conflict?

Duh! New book, election year, what could be more obvious?

  7. Woodward used so many adjectives in his description that I have no idea what he's talking about.
