EXPLICIT: View from dash cam shows aggressive arrest of man for reckless driving.Winning friends and influencing people. Just another typical "Only One"/citizen encounter...
Inexcusable.
I would think just as a matter of self-preservation they'd want to moderate their public relations a tad--just in case they ever find themselves in a situation where the balance of power is reversed and they find themselves in need of a little sympathy or mercy.
Maybe they're not imaginative or prescient enough to visualize such circumstances...
You got to give the asshole credit for being a pig for kicking the door to put a dent in it act like some kind of bad ass.
ReplyDeleteThey sure came out like flies for a fresh pile.
Of course we don't know what happened before this. Was the driver refusing to pull over, that really pisses them off, big time. Which makes me wonder because too many cops are on the spot all at once. But to kick the door was totally uncalled for. With his foot on the door, it couldn't be opened now could it? In fact to damage private property as kicking the door is criminal and its on tape. If the idea was to get the driver out of the car blocking his path with a foot on the door isn't the way to do it. Goon squad on a power trip.
"just in case they ever find themselves in a situation where the balance of power is reversed and they find themselves in need of a little sympathy or mercy."
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, it was too late for that about three videos ago.
If a civilian pulled that maneuver in which a cop car veered in front of the SUV at the light to box him in, it would be a "swoop and squat," an insurance scam in which someone causes an accident on purpose.
ReplyDeleteThe cop behind says he was pulling the man for looking back in the mirror. Do police ever tailgate to make people nervous so they "act suspiciously" by checking their mirror? I once read of a stop -- tactics approved after the fact by the judge -- for black men in a car "cutting their eyes back" at a state police troopermobile.
Well, hell, you naturally wonder what they're going to do, and to whom.
It wasn't TWO SECONDS after the rear cop turned on his roof lights that the driver stopped. Uncle Fester accuses him of planning to run. I guess thoughtcrime/pre-crime is an accepted law enforcement tool today.
The driver doesn't sound too bright OR too much of a stranger to street trouble, but we have to extend the protection of rights to EVERYONE.
No sympathy; no mercy.
ReplyDelete"Was the driver refusing to pull over, that really pisses them off, big time. "
ReplyDeleteIt is pretty obvious from the video that he (the victim) was at a stop when the cop behind him turned on the flashing lights. He claims (and the video is consistent) that "he had to pull over someplace". It appears he started to move and then jumped on his breaks -- one might do this if he had looking in the rear view and "knew" there was nothing in front of him. Sure looks to me like the cops planned a "take down" and the guy was guilty of exactly one thing: DWB (driving while black).
Cops like the one that dragged him out of the car should be residents of a prison. Or a graveyard. They certainly should not be cops.
I liked the part where the loud-mouthed POS Leo couldn't figure out how to open the tailgate.
ReplyDeleteThose Chevy Blazers sure are sophisticated...
Looked like a carjacking to me. Shouldn't carjackers be shot?
ReplyDeleteOne thing La. got right is about 5 years ago they passed a law that killing a carjacker was a non-prosecutable offense. Even if it wasn't your car and even if you had to run three blocks to do it.
What probable cause did they have to pull him over? It think it was DWB, because I see no other reason for them to pull him over in that tape.
