A Peaceful Resolution

Standoff with armed man ends peacefully
Compare this to the abuse of "No Knock" procedures we read about so often.

I guess Wyoming still has some "peace officers"...?

  1. If you notice it was settled before the "special response" team got on scene. If the swat thugs had unpacked their toys, the drunk would have ended up dead and in all probability the apartment complex would have burned to the ground.

  2. "After knocking on the door, they used a master key to check on the welfare of the people inside"

So first it was No Knock Warrant, and now its Knock, No Warrant?

    +1 to first commenter.

  3. Perhaps, but remember there was a legitimate complaint by the neighbors. The man was shooting indiscriminately in an occupied building.

Contrast the events that actually happened here with almost any other city in the country.

The fact that he may have actually pointed the shotgun at the cops, yet lived to walk out, is a testament to a whole different attitude on the part of most cops in Wyoming.

Not that sh*t can't happen here too, but it's just not as likely.

  4. OK, no mention of WHO fired the shot, if it was an armed intruder or the resident. Guy has a shotgun after confronting someone in his apartment...big whoop.

Glad he wasn't murdered by the state. Hell, glad the cops even had the right apartment.

  5. Those peace officers should go to war against the LEOs. That would make me have some respect for them. Just doing the minimum to avoid doing great harm seems common-sensical to me. I guess our expectations of cops have fallen pretty far.

  6. Ok, I admit this is snarky, but it was one of the first thoughts to enter what I use for a mind.

Could it be they eschewed the use of a "No Knock, Dynamic Entry" because they knew this wasn't an unarmed man asleep in his bed?

It also makes one wonder if the man had had pets to kill, could they still have resisted the temptation?

  7. Around here, people in this scenario usually end up dead with the official police declaration that it was a "self-inflicted" gunshot after the swat thugs storm the place. One just this week in fact.
