There are nearly 7,000 gun shops along the southern U.S. border, about three for every mile. They sell thousands of hand grenades, rocket-propelled grenade launchers, AK-47s, and "cop killer" guns and bullets that cut through Kevlar body armor. The weapons quickly flow south, again with barely a nod from U.S. Border Patrol. [More]Right. Mexico is our fault.
Hey, don't forget those damned American gun shows.
And who is the expert we must heed?
Shannon O'Neil is Douglas Dillon fellow for Latin America studies at the Council on Foreign Relations...That ain't all she is.

What the bloody F...
ReplyDeleteIs this person really living in our reality? It's like they're in an alternate dimension. A dimension of stupid.
We can't possibly argue down this sort of dumbassery as quickly as it spreads. It's a losing battle. Those brainwashed fools will outvote us every time!
Political action. Yeah, right.
Grenades and RPGs? I've been missing out!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure NO weapons of war come NORTH from America Centrale and points south: Nicaragua, Honduras, Colombia, Venezuela (Chavez still hates us, he and the Russians are having military maneuvers together)...
If I were ignorant, O'Neil would have me scared and motivated. But if you have to lie grossly to accomplish your goal, when people learn the truth, the support evaporates. No one appreciates being lied to. Now if only they catch on before they sign the deal with the devil.
"They sell thousands of hand grenades, rocket-propelled grenade launchers, AK-47s, and "cop killer" guns and bullets that cut through Kevlar body armor."
ReplyDeleteI didn't know we could get all that from a gun store. What a country. To think, in Chicago they worry about handguns.
Nitwits like O'Neil are terminally cynical and will craft any story that fits their intended outcomes; in this case arms restrictions on Americans.
ReplyDeleteNo self respecting cartel cowboy would waste time and pesos buying expensive guns in US when he/she can just call the local corrupt cop shop or Mex army depot for the good and cheap stuff.
I'm pissed now. I read the whole article, and it never told me where these gun shops are.
ReplyDeleteI could use some RPGs. But will anybody sell them in my area? Noooo...
Grenades,RPG's.... Omygosh, where are they selling them?
ReplyDelete3 gunshops per mile?
I want and need some of these toys!!

My reply -
ReplyDelete"They sell thousands of hand grenades, rocket-propelled grenade launchers, AK-47s, and "cop killer" guns and bullets that cut through Kevlar body armor." - This is totally false. Not just a little false, blatantly false.
This BS has been spouted by a lot of people lately who should know better. Go see if you can buy a few Grenades or RPG's over the counter at one of those stores and get back with me.
In order to post a comment on this site I had to agree to not post false information. Shouldn't that same standard apply to the author?
Fact of the matter is the Marxist that hate you and our country don't care if they are known to be lying. They know full well we will know its a lie. But we can't get the lamestreem news to cover the fact they are lying.
ReplyDeleteYes, they know we will at once know they are liars but they also know the useful idiots will give support to new gun laws having read this propaganda.
Propaganda is just what it is, don't get suckered in.
ReplyDeleteThese treasonous dogs will surely get whats due for their ilk.
I feel cheated. I live in Texas and I can't find any of those grenades and RPGs for sale!
ReplyDeleteOne gun shop every three miles? Sounds like Paradise! Or maybe San Andreas from "Grand Theft Auto."
Free trade should be encouraged, not villified.
ReplyDeleteThat's the trouble, Avgjoe. WE know they are lying, but they're not trying to convince us. Their audience is the sheeple who outnumber us, and they're lapping this poison up as though it's first-class feed. When we call the creeps on it, they just ignore and/or pooh pooh us, as though we never said anything at all.
ReplyDeleteWith Obama bin Biden coming into power in a few days, look for things to get much worse.
Well Snake, if you are right I don't think they are going to like the kind of worse it is going to get.
ReplyDeleteDidn't people like Goebbells teach us that when you tell a lie, make it a whopper?
ReplyDeleteI never realized that US Customs and INS existed to restrict exports of material and people TO Mexico. I thought that US Customs and INS existed to restrict what was coming FROM Mexico. I guess a porous border works both ways.
So a regular .308 round will not penetrate a vest, only special "cop killer" bullets. I'm intrigued! I ate lunch with an illegal alien today, he was telling me how much of the major league drug transport is protected from up high by the Mexican government.
ReplyDeleteWhere is this idiot getting her statistics? Her neather regions?
ReplyDeleteMexico has its own problems, however I believe they have the right idea about elections. Forget 'em, just have a revolution every few years. If you want a political office challenge the incumbent to a duel. The winner gets the office, the loser gets a small dirt plot. problem solved and cheaply. And they don't have to put up with the perennial politicians.
But, the entire problem is our fault. One can purchase hand grenades, fully auto weapons, claymores, nukes, ... from any gun shop in the US. Right!!!
The US army has been all the way top Mexico City twice and the powers that be were smart enough to give their country back to them both times - Thank God!
Yes, inert grenades, semi-auto variants of Kalashnikov designs, and de-milled launchers, (that's the part that doesn't fly through the air or explode.) And of course, the body armor... Jesus, why bother?
ReplyDeleteThe article asks: "Why is the United States backing Mexican drug gangs?" Uh huh. Why are they also backing corrupt Mexican police? Why are we interfering at all? But wait, the author answers those questions: because we tried to "ban" drugs, and the manufacturers have built their own government--complete with a standing army--to secure an income of 12 billion dollars a year.
As for the author's assertion that the "U.S. government does little to stop [the drug trade]", the DEA was budgeted for 2.34 billion in 2007. This is up from 1.58 billion when Bush took office. This is only the DEA's budget, and doesn't reflect the money and resources used by the DOJ and state police troops to discover and prosecute users and traffickers, and it doesn't include the costs of incarcerating the convicted. Americans have also paid a tremendous cost by surrendering their liberties to the War on Drugs.
Do "Latin America[n]" studies include economics?
I don't know about economics, but they obviously don't include ethics. Or honesty. Or any of that troublesome stuff that gets in the way of blaming someone else.
ReplyDeleteGee, if only we had a, oh what do they call it, a wall along that border....
