That's us, a bunch of cud-chewing contented cows. I guess if a government official can define the limits to our pursuit of Happiness, he's also authorized to weigh in on other unalienable Rights like Life and Liberty...Cagle was emphatic in his opposition Monday.
“Let me be clear,” he said, adding that the issue was dealt with last year. “People should be content with where we are.” [More]

You might begin with the words "Let me be clear..."

Incrementalism is only acceptable if it's in THEIR favor, see.
ReplyDeleteI really don't get your problem. You're reminding me of black people. I mean, for Christ's sake, we let the ON the friggin' bus, they should be content to sit at the rear.
ReplyDelete[end sarcasm]
That's 'cause I'm uppity...
ReplyDeleteThe dolt seems to have disabled the link to make a comment. I get a "page not found" after repeated attempts.
ReplyDeleteWonder why he would do that?
Darn, and he was going to get such a kick out of my message too...
It just worked for me. Please try it again and share what you tell him.
ReplyDeleteRegarding your comments on Monday, "They should be content. . ."
ReplyDeleteSince when, Sir?
Overbold and presumptuous as I may be, I proffer up this alternative approach: With a bishop's benevolence and a shepherd's confidence, encourage your vassals instead to know your unwavering support of a complete adoption of a restriction-free shall-issue concealed firearms/weapons policy accessible to all adult residents of the great state for which you so graciously serve. To uplift the spirits of your herd, from whose labors in fenced browse your skim provides such personal bounty, ease, and privilege is a class gift and should motivate them en-masse to loftier achievements and brighter gazes as their eyes rise above the horizon towards that golden dome in praise.
And that might even help get you re-elected.
Tyrants and dictaters always feel the common low lifes should be content with what ever they let you have
ReplyDeleteMine:
ReplyDeleteI wrote "other" in the topic line because this message isn't about "gun control" or "crime". Rather it is about liberty, civil rights and our duty to those American ideals. "Our" in the preceding sentence, means your duty too. Though you seem to be under the misconception that you are important enough to decide for free men with Godly endowed, constitutionally guaranteed rights just how much of those rights you are willing to let them have.
I have just read of your comment that the people of Georgia should "be content with where they are", as regards those aforementioned rights. You are not only arrogant, but ignorant, which makes you very dangerous to liberty, so long as you are tolerated. Arrogance is exemplified by your assumption that "YOU" get to dole out liberty and rights as you see fit in manner and amount. Your ignorance is verified by the displayed belief that rights can be regulated and still be called rights, rather than priviileges which the lord of the manor may bestow or rescind at his pleasure.
Two points, you are not "lord of the manor", and secondly you had better "be content with where you are". When a servant tries to become master, he is no longer employed, let alone promoted. You should be content with where you are.
I notice that the most popular story in the sidebar is this: "Robbers shoot bar worker in head". I guess that the bar worker should also be satisfied with the current limited list of places CCW is permitted.
ReplyDeleteCrap! Right here in my home state. For some reason when people get into office they forget how they got there. Wrote him a letter and reminded him how Sen. Chambliss had to fight for his political life after trying to out Democrat the Democrats.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the alert, David.
Let me be clear; you are a tyrant.
ReplyDeleteHow dare you tell the People that they should be content with the crumbs of liberty that you will allow them?
Resign Sir, you are not fit for an office of public trust.
Spend our unemployed time reading the Constitution.
The members of GeorgiaCarry.Org are getting heavily involved with this. We passed some needed legislation last year, and apparently Cagle thinks that once every four years or so is plenty enough for the "gun nuts". And yes, Lt. Gov. Cagle is eyeing the Governor's mansion.
ReplyDeleteI'm just as incensed as anyone by Mr. Cagle's rather statist view of things, but there are right and wrong ways to approach this. We're still moving uphill on this issue, and we have to take the moral and rhetorical high ground. Insults won't engender any goodwill or sympathy for our cause; well-worded and civilized arguments will.
ReplyDeleteI have a great deal of respect for your work, but I really wish you hadn't worded your response in such a way. Last year's legislative session was a tough haul, with a great deal of acrimony on both sides.
Trust me, politicians don't give a rat's rear end what anyone from another state says to them. If you can't vote for/against them, your opinion means less than nothing.
ReplyDeleteSorry, David. It would be interesting to see if a Ga. gov't computer checks into WoG.
Tom, you do it your way, I'll do it mine.
ReplyDeleteI reject the notion that there is no room in the debate for plain in-no-uncertain-terms rough speaking.
I'm sure he gets enough polite petitions saying "please" and "thank you." And he's still an elitist jerk.
If your contention is that speaking to him roughly will anger him and cause him to abuse his office even further to extract revenge, then he IS a low-down tyrant. As such, he's lucky all people are being is a bit rude.
This is The War on Guns: Notes from the Resistance. If you don't like in-your-face defiance, you're in the wrong place. Maybe if more, rather than fewer, weren't afraid to slap him around, he wouldn't be such an arrogant dick.
And SameNoKami--it's not that I just sent him an email--it's that I sent him a link to negative PR that reaches one of his state's activist constituencies, and it's now being discussed on forums in front of voters who can take revenge on him.
Hoo-******-ahh! I love that mail.
ReplyDeleteJohn Oxendine, a GeorgiaCarry.org life member will be running for Governor, likely against Cagle. I liked Cagle before, but Ox is my man now.
I'm a Gawgian, and I vote.
