We're the Only Ones Murdering the Helpless Enough

A BART police officer struggling to handcuff a 22-year-old man stood up over the facedown Hayward resident and fired a single shot into his back while a handful of officers watched, a video taken by a train passenger apparently shows. [More]
See the video here.

No wonder the Bay Area wants only the "Only Ones" to be armed.

And what the hell is with Chief Gary Gee "declined to identify the officer"?

FIVE DAYS AFTER THE SHOOTING...?

Do you think that would be an issue if one of us had shot a cuffed cop in the back? We deserve to know if there is anyone either so evil or so incompetent running loose among us simply as a matter of public safety.

You can tell Chief Gee that at: ggee@bart.gov

  1. This clearly shows that they are not there to serve and protect or even better, enforce the laws. Where are the federal cops who's job it is to protect the civil rights of all Americans? Why haven't the state or federal cops stepped in to deal with this matter is no small wonder. These parasites on all levels see themselves as above the laws and can do as they wish. Which means kill citizens at will.
This story highlights just how we the people have totally lost our own government and cops are nothing but a bunch of goons that are coiled springs waiting to go off and kill citizens. The other cops who stood there need to be charged with murder as the killer should be. If anyone robs a bank and his partner is killed by police the living robber is charged with murder. That should go for every one of these punks and cowards who just stood there.

  2. AvgJoe,
I agree entirely. They should be charged with murder at minimum. Also, punishments for Police officers should be stiffer than those who aren't the 'only ones' charged with protection of society, since they are afforded with 'rights' and 'responsibilities' the rest of us aren't in many places. For example, the police in a number of cities are the only ones who are legally permitted to carry a concealed weapon, therefore the misuse of this weapon should be prosecuted with more severity since they purpert themselves to be 'experts' on guns.

Just my .45cents (calculated for inlaction after the bailout).

  3. I hadn't finished the video in its entirety prior to commenting, but after viwing it, it is clear that those shitbags executed that man. There is no evidence suggesting any potential harm to the officer. The man in handcuffs didn't even have a weapon on him, I can make that statement because if he did, then it would have been trumpeted by the police as something he was reaching for.

  4. This is murder, pure and simple, but you can bet that thug will not see the inside of a courtroom. That's all I have to say, because I'm too angry to say what I really feel.

  5. Looks like another incident where the cop intended to grab his taser, but drew from the wrong side of his belt and booger-hooked the bang-switch without thinking.

At the very least, it is a negligent homicide.

  6. This web site has a daily citation to events of the Revolutionary War. The contents of some of the comments here and on the Contra Costa web site about the rabble deserving what they got remind me of the Boston Massacre, which was one of the events leading up to the Revolutionary War. British Redcoats patrolling Boston's Fanueil Hall area keeping the King's peace encountered a taunting, jeering group of citizens who proceeded to throw snowballs at the Redcoats. The Redcoats responded with a volley of deadly musket fire.
It was wrong then. It is wrong now.

  7. Here's the part that was left off in the post above. The Redcoats were put on trial and their lawyers was none other than John Adams. Who in fact did his job so well that the jury found the Redcoats not guilty.
The "just snowball" story didn't hold up in court under cross by Mr. Adams. And it doesn't hold up today for folks that know history.
Nevertheless, cops today are killing helpless people and its a huge problem that is not being addressed.

  8. Yep, I heard the "meant to grab his Taser" argument, too. That may be true, but why Taser a guy who's pinned to the floor by two fellow officers and in restraints already? The officer in question showed several instances of seriously poor judgement during the incident.

Also, why is it that the officer gets to stay home on paid leave while the incident is investigated? He should be arrested and in jail awaiting a bail hearing like any other murder suspect. "Only One" indeed.

  10. Did anyone notice that motion he made near the gun with his left hand at the time of firing? A commenter at another blog thought it look like he was pulling back the slide. I was wondering how you release the safety on a taser. If the cop was doing neither, I don't understand what that movement of the left hand was.

Also, I don't think that the kid was in handcuffs when the shot was fired. I think the family's lawyer said that the kid was handcuffed after the shooting.

  11. if the cop claims "going for taser" sue taser out of existence. They market a product with similar look, function, feel of a gun to those in high stress situations that are also carrying a pistol.

  12. I have watched the video and in my opinion Mr. Grant was murdered.

The cop in who shot him should be charged with First Degree Murder RIGHT NOW! Instead, the gangster-with-official-sanction is on PAID admin leave...?? WTF, over?

Where is the denunciation from all of those "good guy peace officers" out there who "just want to do the right thing"?

Where?????????? The silence is deafening. This could be an indicator.

  13. I love that the family is considering requesting criminal charges against the officer.

I would be demanding criminal charges be filed. I would be demanding the max plus penalty, after all officers are held to a higher standard when it comes to their word in court and they are supposed to know the laws. It is only fair that they are held to a higher standard (more severe punishment) when punished for crimes they commit.

  17. That's murder, no question in my mind. Have you looked at the taser units? Most have a lot of bright colors on them, I have never seen sights on them. And that homicidial bastard took time to sight down the weapon & fire. Look at the hesitation when he gets the weapon in line with the poor guys back, he's friggin AIMING!!

Then he stands around like: "Everythings cool, no problems, I took the punk-ass out, we have it covered".

    Hang that bastard.

  18. The get-away driver is charged with murder in many states, though he did not pull the trigger. It's only fair that each cop present at this event face justice, the same justice a poor kid from the hood would face in the courts.
