Ah, the old "home rule" argument.Today's Gun Rights Examiner column focuses on a common deception propagated by the anti-gunners-- when "home rule" favors citizen disarmament, they're for it. When it doesn't, it's time to being in the feds.
You know, their position that places like Washington DC should be able to enact gun bans. Just like President Obama's Chicago/Cheyenne sleight of mind...
It's a great trick to use on those who aren't paying attention. You distract everyone with talk about assaults on local control, and then you enact sweeping legislation that encompasses everybody everywhere. [More]
I'd like to see more gun rights activists pick up on this argument and use it. You can start by sharing the link to today's column.

The Bill of Rights doesn't disappear when one enters a city within the US of A, does it?
ReplyDeleteExcellent point, Anon. It is the ultimate in arrogance to claim that one's little jurisdiction is above the Law of the Land.
ReplyDeleteNear as I can figure, some people just LOVE bigger-than-life braggarts and authoritarians because they march to the beat of their own drum. NYC mayor Bloombutt was recognized for donating $250 million of his personal BILLION$ to "worthy causes" last year. Causes like victim disarmament.
But then, the people who vote for these subversives tend to be scofflaws themselves, and they KNOW they can push the limits of the law and get a mild reprimand. Because their behavior is what scares the public into supporing Mr. Mayor's methods in the first place. An unholy symbiosis. Two cancers feeding each other.
Remember the VCU Disarmament link the other day?
ReplyDeleteThe VCU campus police chief has been arrested and charged with trying to solicit sex from a 14-year-old online. He was, of course, chatting with a police detective trolling for child predators. He's 50. He thinks it's a GOOD idea to randomly block streets that cross campus and search cars in case someone has an "illegal gun" or drugs or something, you know, "for the children."
