"Authorized Journalists" at it Again

...Publishing CHP holder lists, that is. [More]

Unless area gun owners make Chatham Star-Tribune advertisers part of the solution, these arrogant subversives will continue with their attacks.

Who are their big car dealer advertisers crying for sales in today's economy? Ask 'em how they'd like a few dozen chanting pickets on the sidewalk by their lot over the next several weekends unless they stop giving aid and comfort to the enemy...

  1. Why do they think people who CCW are a threat who need to be exposed?

Do they really think they're going to find killers and robbers on that list?

Pressuring the advertisers won't change the minds of editors, who demand that publishers separate the news and business sides, but it will hasten the demise of the newspaper.

Maybe they'll cut loose some editors sooner, rather than later.

  2. Thanks for putting this up David.

I've put the following update on my original post:

"It should be noted that, while I have no reason to mistrust or disbelieve VCDL, I have not been able to confirm this personally. I have not been able to locate the list, or any reference to it, on the Star-Tribune's website. I posted a comment requesting more information on the VCDL blog entry I linked to above, but have not yet received a reply.

If anyone can corroborate this, please let me know. I'd like to know if my parents (or any other family members) are on the published list, so I can make them aware. "

  3. There's a really easy solution to this, and I wrote my local papers back when this was a threat in Oregon. I proposed that if they want to put my name and address in the paper, then the editors and publishers should have to put their name and address as well.

    Never got a response.

  4. i'd just open carry from that point on -- no sense in concealing it anymore. happens to be perfectly legal in MA, without any license whatsoever.

of course, this is so that the police on duty can avail to the law as to why they don't need to pay the $200 in extortion money for a certification and a CHL, nor the renewal fee.

  6. Chatham is in Pittsylvania County near North Carolina. Just across the county line is Martinsville, one of the energy vortexes of NASCAR Nation. Families. Conservatives. Working folks. People who appreciate the meaning of "shall not be infringed" and their privacy. People who watched their government and their business executives let the textile industry, the mainstay of the region, bleed away to Mexico, China, Honduras, Pakistan.
Next county to the west, and the next and the next, most people would rather starve and freeze than accept government aid. Real Americans.
The Press. No longer watchdogs on the Establishment, but lapdogs. They'll hear about this.

  7. Florida already changed the laws regarding this privacy issue- I was on hold for an hour waiting to find out if my gun/guard card will xfer from California when I move (it wont) but I heard about the CHL privacy while I was on hold.

  8. Cooment to jon's comment.
I remember that 30 years ago an older gentleman would show up at the annual Braintree (birthplace of John Adams) town meeting openly carrying, causing all sorts of fits by his fellow attendees. Democracy in action and demonstation of rights all in one place. Beautiful.
What people forget is that Massachusetts' sense of religious freedom (and other freedoms as well) was that the founders of Massachusetts Bay Colony and Plymouth Colony wanted to be free to practice their religion, but had a problem with those Church of England people and Quakers (search Anne Hutchison expelled, starts her march within walking distance of Adams' property). They weren't called Puritans and Separatists for nothing.

  9. New update on this. I have now seen the list, and while it's not quite as bad as I initially thought, it's still very bad. It only shows people who were issued a CHP in the county in January.

The question now is: Is this a regular item?
