Handguns would get more expensive in Wisconsin under Gov. Jim Doyle’s budget proposal.Just call it a "sin tax" and the blue state cheeseheads should eat it right up.
The Democratic governor’s spending plan would increase background check fees to $30 from $8, a move that could affect tens of thousands of gun buyers. Republicans pounced on the idea. Rep. Scott Suder, R-Abbotsford, branded it “outrageous.” [More]

Doyle has been unable to get this to pass in the last few years, and I don't think he understands the implications of getting it to pass in the long run...
ReplyDeleteDon't you worry, David, there are plenty of people in this once-great State (WI) that will ultimately do what is necessary. I will alert my representatives and get this up on some local websites in order to do the whole pragmatic thing in the meantime.
increase background check fees, reduce background checks.
ReplyDeletenot guns.
What has the amount of the "fee" got to do with anything?
ReplyDeleteThe idea that anyone must prove themselves innocent of anything, let alone the specious list of stupidity being used these days, is the affront to our liberty and intelligence.
I cringe each time I hear people say that "criminals don't go through background checks..." Nobody should be subjected to it.
Let's eliminate this voo doo crap of trying to identify them before hand.
Thank you "MamaLiberty"!!! You win the prize. Background checks are PRIOR RESTRAINT - i.e. you have to prove you are INNOCENT in order to exercise a RIGHT. NOBODY in America should be required to get a "permit" from "the authorities" to BEAR ARMS - isn't that one of the rights supposedly enumerated in the Constitution? Perhaps a background check, some paperwork, and a small "fee" prior to printing or broadcasting each news story would enlighten our "friends" in the press.
ReplyDeleteThe press already are enlightened. They just think that by tying their wagon to the "movement" they will be given a pass.
