"We Will Not Obey"

We will NOT obey any order to disarm the American people...
That's probably for the best, since we will not comply with those orders...

From Oath Keepers. [More]

  1. I recall that when I moved to Florida and registered to vote, I took an oath to preserve and defend both the U.S. and Florida Constitutions. It appears that the oath keepers could expand their sphere of influence.

  2. I had some questions and I tried not to be too abrasive, here they are:

Please don't take the following as criticism, it is not. However, these are things I think we should all be thinking about.

I am having a little trouble believing all this. And no, it is not because I doubt your sincerity. My trouble with full belief, not disbelief, just trouble with full belief of your statements above can best be illustrated by articles 9 and 10 above.

"9. We will NOT obey any orders to confiscate the property of the American people, including food and other essential supplies, under any emergency pretext whatsoever."

Yet we know that daily in this country people are having their property confiscated without conviction of crime, without even arrests for suspicion of crime in many cases. This all started with the RICO statutes and has now expanded so that every PD, every Alphabet agency at every level of government can and does confiscate everything from cash to cars to homes to guns, without even a scintilla of due process for those thusly deprived. Guys, it isn't the Mafia doing it, not even MS-13, the Crips, the Bloods or any other traditionally recognized criminal enterprise. It is law enforcement and in rare cases the National Guard (see NO/Katrina).

This raises questions that must be asked. Who is doing it? If it is not the Oath Keepers and its members, then who? And what are the Oath Keepers willing to do about their fellow soldiers and brother officers who are doing it?

Without the resolve to stand against them when appropriate it matters not what you say, for then the words are only wishes.

"10. We will NOT obey any orders which infringe on the right of the people to free speech, to peaceably assemble, and to petition their government for a redress of grievances. "

More questions; How many heads have we seen busted at political rallies when opposing demonstrators are peacefully protesting (key word-peacefully)? How many free speech zones have we seen set up and enforced at great remove from the locus of debate? Who has enforced these two abominations? What has been done to stop them?

Don't get me wrong, I am glad to see that your hearts are in the right place. But it is going to take more than hearts. It means sacrifice, maybe blood, for sure sweat and tears. Ostracism may even be in the offing by those who will not keep their oaths. Those are the consequences of keeping your oath, or at least they could be. All that is bad enough, but what about pensions lost and careers ended when the stand is taken? How many will take that stand knowing all that will befall them?

Number 2 is also a stumbling block for me. But as this is going to be long enough as it is, where were the principled people in the Corey Maye, or Ryan Frederick cases? Both men killed nocturnal attackers of their homes, only to learn later that they were law enforcement. In one case the warrant was for a different residence and the other had no warrant at all. Both men were convicted for doing exactly what every one of us would do in the exact circumstances. All those people involved in the arrest and prosecution of these two had taken oaths. None kept them.

So another question is this; is Oath Keepers a roll call of those who are now affirming they will not engage in like behavior?

I repeat, I am glad your hearts are in the right place, but to date I haven't seen it happen, except in very rare instances, where a stand was taken against the law machine, by its enforcers. How can you know you will stand up to the "big" push when no one has yet stood up to the "little" pushes that we as a citizenry and nation endure daily?

Until we do, our words are only wishes.
