I can see several problems with this right off the bat. This opens the door for all kinds of fishing expeditions. And how is a company that depends on compliance (to often arbitrary or unwritten "standards") with ATF for its survival reasonably supposed to be able to refuse "voluntary cooperation"--and then not fear repercussions? How is that not extortion? [More]to beI received a letter from a reliable source that appears authentic. I'm trying to determine if it is, and if so, what its implications will be.

Explain to the IRS why you didn't voluntarily pay income tax on your wages, eventhough the IRS can't show you the law that requires payment. Even requesting that you be shown the section of the tax code that requires the payment has been determined to be a frivolous question. Hello, jail!
