A new Ohio law allows judges who issue protection orders against suspected stalkers to also have them monitored electronically.Whether you're actually guilty--or just the victim of some vindictive scorned reject.
The law requires the offender to pay for the monitoring, to be conducted by a sheriff's office or other law-enforcement agency. [More]

Siccing the state on someone is a declaration of war. It doesn't make you safer, but has the opposite effect. Look at the results.
ReplyDeleteWhy, you wouldn't want all those crazy women running around with GUNS or something, would you? I mean, they would just be shooting every man they saw!!! EEEK
ReplyDelete/sarcasm....
Kent is right on.
ReplyDeleteIf you want someone to leave you alone, leave them alone and let them know the (legal) consequences of not going along. When judges, lawyers and cops get involved, some folks may call in a favor from the wrong side of the tracks. Joe/Judy goes on vacation by airplane to a city 1500 miles away while "pro" bad guys take care of the offender. Joe/Judy couldn't have done it, don't know who did it, but is relieved by the end of a bad chapter of their life. Just a favor for a buddy of a buddy. Nobody talks, everybody walks.
This happens to women who get themselves pregnant (for the purpose of a paycheck, or...) and announce it as an ultimatum/threat that they are getting married. Look at the statistics of pregnant women getting killed in unsolved ways.
Ohio is just another place to be extra-careful in and avoid generally.
Cheers.
The article states that "monitoring will make it easier to gather enough evidence to convict". Will it gather enough evidence to acquit? Why does it appear that the wearer of the device is paying to have his 5th Amendment rights violated? Why does it appear that the wearer is already considered guilty without trial and is sentenced to close scrutiny at his expense. Why does the government care where you are before conviction so long as you are staying away from locations associated with the person complaining about stalking? If the person wearing the device goes to grocery store and the "victim" subsequently arrives at the store, who is stalking whom?
