"And I Don't Mean a Mall Cop"

Captain once held by pirates urges military protection, armed crews [More]
Naturally, "His boss disagrees."

His damned fascist money-grubbing traitor to humanity boss ought to go through the same experience.

And surprise, surprise:
Panel members expressed interest in the idea of arming crews.

"Historically we have deputized citizens to engage in law enforcement activities, going way back to the posses," said Sen. John F. Kerry (D-Mass.), the committee chairman.
True, and not just at sea, senator. But defending yourself is hardly engaging in "law enforcement" requiring state sanction, is it now?

Oh...I guess in practice, thanks to the commonly accepted practice of "permitting" RKBA, it kind of is, and doesn't that show how far we've strayed? I guess that's why so many in the media refer to self defense as "vigilantism."

  2. Kerry is also very excited about the resurrection of the "Fairness" Doctrine, which will bash conservative talk radio and TV with equal time restrictions forcing them to air opponents' views. As if that minority of the broadcast spectrum were any match for ABC, CBS, NBC and PBS. So Kerry -- like John McCain -- doesn't trust people with WORDS as well as guns. Feinstein loves the "FU" Doctrine too.
The farther up the salary and prestige scale a CEO gets, the less individual workers matter -- including their lives or deaths. Cheaper to pay off the widow than buy insurance against a weapons "accident" or international INCIDENT involving armed self-defense.
Well, they had their little international incident anyway, didn't they?

His type believe guns don't work unless they come with shiny boots, a badge, or a Sam Browne belt.

This is an excellent article on why the law abides in the hands of individuals, not government. I've printed it out and hand it out to those who are confused about the role of the police/government.

  5. Permitting armed crews won't work because lily-livered bean-counters are making the rules.

Require armed crews on US flagged vessels.Forbid trade or visa to any country's nationals if said country tries to screw with American crews for having firearms in an arms locker.

Fine the bejesus out of any owner that foot drags. If they don';t like it, they can get a flag of convenience ... and ask the Liberian Navy to deal with the pirates.
