Fortify This

Mandatory fotification of bread with folic acid would slash the risk of babies being born with a heart problem, experience from Canada shows. [More]
Mandatory.

Because people who make bread for a living aren't smart enough to figure out what the market wants and needs. We need to add coercion backed by the force of the state into the mix.

Because people can't be trusted to make choices about their own nutrition and what goes into their bodies without the state telling them. And woe unto those who try it.

Because if you don't do what we say, we are going to send agents to take you hostage and destroy your life's work. And if you resist, they will kill you. And they may yet anyway, if we decide to do the raid at 3:00 AM, maybe hit the wrong house, but report afterward we believed that cell phone you were dialing the police on was a gun. Then it will all fall into accepted department policy.

Well, hell, if fortifying bread with this chemical is good, fortifying it with others must be better. And if bakeries must make it, you must eat it. Because it's all for what we say is the public good.

Coming soon to this country if the central planners who know what's best for us have their way. No doubt by international treaty.

  1. The dry-cleaner in "Unintended Consequences" had a creative response for the local EPA official who shut down his business over a tiny chemical spill confined to several square feet of his parking lot. It involved a cardboard box the height of his car windowsill, a blanket, a shotgun and a stoplight.
Just one of those crazy random shootings. Probably some kind of gang initiation...

  3. Awe, doggoneit. Now I have to add a bread machine to my list of things to by before TSHTF, right next to the reloading equipment.

  4. That loon Cass Sunstein is almost approved as White House "regulatory czar."
David Martosko of the Center for Consumer Freedom warns about him. A Boy Named Cass may suggest taxes on foods HE considers unhealthy. Just what the restaurant and grocery industries need, right?
Also, in 2016, Social Security will pay out more than it takes in. Medicare already is.
SocSec will be depleted in 2037, at current rates, and medicare in 2017. (this, BEFORE Obama's save-the-planet new taxation and its costs)
With a few million of us ready to stop feeding the Beast, it'll be sooner than that. It really depends on how reasonable they're willing to be.

  5. I feel much the same way about the fluoridation of water (fine for ON teeth, but why drink it when the dentist says to spit?). I think my distiller will have a rough time with bread.

  6. So... the fortification would only work if it were mandatory? Consensual fortification of bread would not provide the same health benefits? Do these people even HEAR themselves?

As far as water fluoridation... this is one of the many reasons I'm glad I drink well water. Now I'll just have to learn how to make my own bread, too.

  7. Along the lines of how some of these Frankensteins have wanted to put Lithium in the water. Bread Good!
