Nothing to Fear

"We've seen an increase of some 40% of arrests since we've been using this technology.

"I'm very confident that we're using it properly and responsibly, and that innocent people have nothing to fear from the way we use it." [More]
In other words, everyone you snare is guilty, Chief Constable?

"Nothing to fear."

See, that's the problem.

  1. One possible method I've looked into should I find myself surrounded by such devices and not yet willing to openly defy the armed thugs is the purchase and installation of a gizmo by a fellow handier than myself: http://www.loover.com/

A louvered license plate cover that doesn't hide the plate from people who are standing or driving, but renders it unreadable from the heights many cameras are mounted from.

  2. On a related note: states have starting banning _smiling_ for a driver's license photo. Apparently it interferes with the facial recognition software they want to use. Big bother is getting all the components in place.

  4. I've heard that some enterprising Brits have taken to sneaking up on and burning video cameras. Doesn't sound like such a bad idea.

Putting a .30 caliber round through 'em from several yards away might be even better. Oh yeah, I forgot. The Brits have been disarmed.
