We're the Only Ones Fighting Fictitious Foes Enough

I found this while looking for something else. It's a few years old but still relevant:
State Weapons of Mass Destruction Team takes down fictitious terrorist group during state’s three-day emergency response exercise

Overnight drill demonstrates award-winning team’s ability to respond to terrorist threat [More]

Yep, Illinois residents should feel safe knowing their award-winning "Only Ones" are equipped to protect them from whatever imaginary threat arises.

And just look at how quickly they can respond to a non-existent threat:
Illinois’ State Weapons of Mass Destruction Teams can respond to a terrorist incident anywhere in the state within 60 to 90 minutes of notification.
Which explains why we'd want to keep Illinois residents helpless for that amount of time should a real incident ever unfold.

  1. so uh...say that's ricin or 'thrax in a subway? The notification comes hours, days, months later?

    Not too effective really.

Oh, and if it's a nuke, I have a feeling that the damage takes a lot less time to be noticed, but the folks who would be responding aren't these goons.

  2. The standard joke here in Texas is - The seriousness of a chemical spill or a terrorist attack can be determined by the number of dead highway patrolmen at the scene.

In this instance, one could also add in the number of dead citizens.
